Yes of course I've seen BTTF2, but in my defence it was quite a long time ago as a child and references to American sports, TV, popular culture etc would go right over my head. I wouldn't have had a clue what sport the Cubbies played let alone their personal story so there was no reason for that reference to stick with me like it would for those raised in America.

It's pretty insular to think that joke would travel to a 90s English kid :lol Ask people in England who the Cubs are and 95% would have little idea even today let alone in the 80s-90s. Now if he'd said bet on Leicester City winning the Premier League I'd have remembered that. An utterly preposterous idea until it happened in May against the 5000-1 odds.

You're a fan of this movie and you saw it once as a child?!?! I'd imagine most people reading this will have seen it at least once per year since it came out...

I got it back in the day. The only reason Marty would remark on it, was if the Cubs were either; 1) A really rubbish team, or; 2) Just hadn't won the World series in a while.
I'm in Scotland(And saw BTTF2 when i was 12), so the idea that it doesn't play outside the USA isn't totally true.
It's fair enough you didn't get it, but i am more surprised by the fact you haven't seen it in many years, lol.

:exactly: I saw it in the UK back in the day and understood. Wasn't in the cinema, but on VHS. I'm a casual fan of BTTF and I must have seen the trilogy at least twice a year :lol

Holodecks, replicators, starships, no money, force fields, transparent aluminum, transporters, etc.

Apart from TNG laptops that were WAY off the mark :lol

Why am I being attacked over this?

I didn't say I'd seen it once as a child, just that i'd not seen it since I was a child...well more teens, but certainly way before I'd watched any baseball. Not sure how many times I did see it, 5 or 6 times maybe. I was wondering how long it would be before someone UK based said they got it right away. I'm sure some of you did but if you think most UK viewers of the movie have an idea who the Cubs are, I think you are mistaken.

Before 2007 when I started watching games on channel 5, I had nothing but a vague understanding of baseball. I'd heard of Babe Ruth and the Yankees but thats about it. Yes, I haven't seen the movie in over a decade, I'm sorry if that offends you so much. I don't tend to watch watch films dozens of times and know the dialogue word for word the way some people do. I wasn't aware I had to re-watch them a certain number of times to say I loved a particular movie.

The disbelieving reaction to Reagan being president in the future went over my head when I saw the first movie as a kid, having no knowledge of his earlier career in Hollywood at that time. Didn't spoil my enjoyment at all but obviously seeing it later that part had more meaning. I've seen the first and third movies much more recently, for whatever reasons those seem to be repeated more often here. I don't have the trilogy on blu-ray yet, shocking I know.

Should I cancel my pre-order on these figures for missing a reference to a team or sport I'd never seen or not meeting you're requirements of fandom?

Your mistake was taking it as an attack. It was merely an observation. There's rarely an attack in the BTTF threads. We are all one big happy BTTF loving family here.
You can go about your business.
Move along.
Lol.

Well then I'm sorry for overeacting. Just been one of those weeks, a little sleep deprived right now.

Re watching bttf for the millionth time. I start to wonder.. why isn't hottoys doing different variations of Marty. I'd gladly buy Marty in the yellow plutonium suit or him in his 50s gear. They make the **** out of iron man. What's stopping them?

I'm happy with the 2015 versions we're getting next year. I'd be all in for 1885 versions if HT wanted to show off some old west detailing.

yeah this figure will come by 2018 so rest assured...HT gotta pump out the 43rd stormtrooper version first!
