Funny story, the Halcyon alien III's clear dome doesn't cover the entire head. Part of it is in the opaque styrene of the head itself so there is a nasty seam that runs all the way around that you have to fill with putty and sand after you paint the head. All while being careful not to scratch the upper half of the dome.

I spent hours getting it perfect so that you couldn't tell where the seam was and I was finally ready to paint it. Then one night, my wife's girlfriend decides she wants to get a closer look at it and knocks it over. The dome snaps right off...

I cried a little inside that night.

The dog alien, the single good thing about alien3. Was a great design and the 1st time we actually saw one of them mature into a full alien.

The single good thing? Wow.... Well, I'm still stunned that anyone can hate one of my all time favorite movies this much.

I had not seen that. Thanks for posting. I love the way they join the neck to the jaw and don't just leave a big hole there.

Yeah, I don't understand the dislike for that movie myself. A3 felt a little like a return to A1... less of just a pure action film like A2. And the Director's Cut is imo better then the heavily edited theatrical version.

I fully respect the opinions of those that liked or even loved A3 on its merits as a film that returns to its roots as survival horror. It may well be a great movie in that respect.

However, when you open your credits unceremoniously killing off a small child and hero who fans grew to love from the previous film, you must accept that a large portion of the fans from the series are going to feel alienated and pissed. They basically threw the A2 in the dumpster and when an emotional kick to the junk is the very first thing that happens, you can't possibly be surprised that a large population of the fan base was turned off and refused to give it a fair shake.

From a story standpoint, I 'get' why they did it, but achieving the original formula by saying "BTW, everyone from the last movie is f'n dead", was lazy in my opinion. It made it very hard to bounce back from that first impression.

Yep, they don't even arrive on LV-426 until the 45 minute mark, even longer obviously until they discover the cocooned colonists.

You can already see how the rubber tendons on the mouth stick out like a sore thumb color-wise. Might need some touch ups to blend them better.

I dont hate A3 just not my favorite in the series. I would rate it far above resurrection though. It just has a lot of flaws like the fact the queen from A2 was somehow able to lay an egg or 2 in that short span of time from the dropship rescue and the time it got on board the sulaco. Which is impossible since she lost her egg laying sac in the scene before the dropship rescue. As someone else pointed out the basically retcon newt and hicks from the film which seems strange to do.

Still the kills scenes are good and i do love the dog aliens design in the film. It just feels as a whole that A3 storywise doesn't amount to much other than ripley killing herself and the last alien queen at the end. Ending the story... that is till resurrection ruined that.

Genuinely surprised at how much I like the look of this figure. I see enough of the movie creature there to want to buy it - an appropriately sinister clenched teeth 'smile'.

there should be no smiling effect for pre-A4 aliens. A1-A3 had fish mouths - this shape: <

too much Resident Evil grin effect for A1/A2/A3. those three had "fish lips". this one is smiling like they began from A4.

Having said that, this is probably their best effort to date.
