And that's how the majority of people still very much view them. Again, like you said, the difference is that we now have the option to "wait and see" from other companies rather then just accepting whatever Hot Toys gives us.All that is fine. Competition is good I’m not disputing that whatsoever, but where it gets old is when people are presumptuous and make comments like I’ll wait for InArt because that’ll be better. Based on what? Your feelings on other figures they’ve released but nothing for this character in particular?
Also there is a segment of collectors who since the inception of InArt (and now JND) like to downplay Hot Toys quality like they’re such subpar figures or something. That’s where I get annoyed.
I can admit Hot Toys has made some lazy and questionable decisions. No questioning that whatsoever but by and large they’re still a decent company and put out good figures.
The "downplayness" of it all comes from us entering a phase where we're seeing higher levels and tiers from INART/JND that we haven't from Hot Toys. The structure and the overall line that we drew as "acceptable" for these figures has changed. It's only natural as more and more competition enters the hobby.
It's like eating one meal from one store your entire life. Only for there to now be 2 stores open up next to it offering different food at a different price point. There's nothing wrong with the first store but you now have more options and a wider "palette" so to speak.
