I can definitely see it as an insult. If I built something that I absolutely love only to have it destroyed by the very person I look up to...I'd be upset. Also your looking at it from an American perspective. Its about honor as well.
Would you get an answer from HT? No. Several reasons. They wouldn't come out and voice their displeasure. Bad PR move. ALSO not their custom. They are voicing their displeasure with not releasing a figure. Lastly Ford Fisher and Hamill get 10% of Sales of their likeness. I would release a figure of him if he did that to my product.

LFL Has nothing to do with it. As long as HT is producing figures then its not an issue. There are 2 Ford Solo figures that were released. So LFL nor HT can't say he's being ignored.

Does anyone on this forum who keeps spreading this, ever have an actual quote, interview soundbite, link, reference from Howard, confirming they were in the slightest bothered by this?

No. It’s just a theory that gets repeated that won’t go away despite there being plenty of different reasons why there hasn’t been a Han figure.

You’re dealing with a massive corporation, collectibles, a huge license, busy companies and people, a person’s likeness, big name celebrities, etc. Licensing, rights, money; there’s just so many factors.

I don’t think what Ford did has anything to do with it. If I were Howard I would try to get that figure to put on display because Ford did a very Ford thing with it. Only adds value.

More importantly, Howard loves Star Wars and Hot Toys is a business first and foremost. Han is one of the most popular characters. All the Han figures they could make would bring in a lot of money.

If there weren’t some other issue we’d probably have near as many Hans as Lukes by now.

If it’s not the late show incident, speculation is also that Harrison renegotiated his likeness rights when he signed on for the farce awakens.
It could just be ford not allowing things or his fee is astronomical and hot toys won’t pay it.
In the long run, we lose either way.
Any hot toys collection for me will be incomplete without bespin or endor han. Hoth too, but at least the sideshow was pretty good with the hood up. Something happened. He was all over those bespin leia pics years (years!) ago. Then nothing.
He would have helped sell a lot more Lando figures too.
We might never know. 🤷‍♂️
Oh well, I’m happy we got general kenobi so I won’t complain until the return 40th lineup disappoints me.

Great point.

It just sucks that HR is such a dick about the character. He doesn’t have to love the character or his portrayal of him, but why **** on all of us for it? 🤷🏾‍♂️. Real shame. No one has to ever talk to him about Han again, but he just gets the chedda for life. Can’t ever understand rich people.

three versions
ANH : two
TFA : one

I've got the ROTJ deluxe with remaining items from the original ROTJ figure, so I'll just be waiting for part outs of this guy. Just want the hands, boots (as a spare set), black cloak and headsculpt. It's cool that HT made the sculpt compatible with the original ROTJ hair piece and Endor Helmet.

Right? There's far more visually interesting figures in the series than black bedsheet Luke here. The headsculpt would have to just be a perfect 10/10 to justify the real estate I think.
Yeah this is one where I really wish I hadn't bought into the hype when I preordered. Sure it's Luke as a full-on Jedi from a badass scene, but the outfit itself is as boring as can be and the sculpt is questionable. And if I'm going to have Luke posed in a robe with his green lightsaber I'd much rather it be the ROTJ version.

I loved Luke's return in "The Mandalorian" but I've held off from pre-ordering this one because of the same reasons.

IF they had released him much sooner, I most likely would have weakened and ordered him. Now, I don't feel like I need him in the collection. That again may change when he finally does ship and we start receiving the in-hand photos.

I thought about the same, but since I'm holding out hope that I will like the production sculpt more than the ROTJ sculpt, I figured getting the entire figure and then selling off parts will be easier and cheaper than buying the parts separately.
If I don't like the sculpt in blogger and in-hand pics though, this might become the first figure I cancel and lose an NRD on.

Assuming the sculpt turns out well, I'm thinking of using (parts of) this to customize an EU Jedi Luke that's closer to his Dark Empire look.

The hype is still there for me. I may critique Hot Toys for not putting their best foot forward from time-to-time but they outdid themselves for this one. I can't wait to recreate scenes from the show when this finally comes in.

It's disappointing to see this pushed back but I hope it won't be too long. Still holding out hope for a last minute USB lightsaber addition. I know it most likely won't happen but it never hurts to hope.

Hot Toys have to send prototypes to LFL and await for their approval. This statement is extremely inaccurate.

you're right, it probably is the cheaper thing to do in the long run to buy the full figure and part out later. And you have the added benefit of not having to 'fight' to get the parts you want. I just don't want to deal with selling stuff later

Truth.
I also don’t believe it has anything to do with Harrison Ford personally, as whether or not he renegotiated his likeness rights when he signed on for Force Awakens, LFL/Disney own all the actor’s likenesses as the characters as far as merchandising goes.
Also, other companies haven’t had an issue with doing Han figures, and even Hasbro is doing the new Indiana Jones stuff.
There has to be some reason Hot Toys has decided not to a Han figure for a while.
I’d like to think it’s because they want to make sure they really nail the portrait this time, so they keep delaying it until it’s spot on, but who knows. Unless Howard says something, it’s obviously all speculation at this point.
I asked a girl I know who works at Toy Sapiens in Harajuku about it, and she said that the employees there don’t know much more than anyone else does for the most part.

I've once mentioned this but will iterate now..bought a XM Darth Maul statue years ago, joined their YouTube broadcast and XM Studio did mention the approval process with LFL was a tedious and pain in the @ss experience to work with, and the license is very expansive.

Some prototypes easily took years to be able green-lighted from the licensor, in this case LFL specifically.

Truth. I worked for Funko for about five years, and they were easily the toughest licensor we had (and we had them all). Between the constant micro-managing, erroneous information and just being excruciatingly slow, it’s a wonder anything ever got produced from that license. I still remember vividly when they told us Constable Zuvio would be the next Boba Fett. I wish I was joking.

No its not inaccurate. How can LFL approve something thats not going into production? If HT doesn't send them something then LFL doesn't have a say.
