Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

It's a better likeness than the nothing I have sitting on my shelf right now. I'll take something over nothing any day. Unless it's that unlicensed atrocity they released and called Ripley many years back.
i must like Weaver'79 too much to accept that definitely different human representation as Ripley then.
i understand that it fits the demand of a "Ripley character" in a vacuum though. it's just so sad that they HT doesn't hire a sculptor who understands european faces.
Neca's Ripley'79 at least looks like Ripley'79 (except for the eyes, but with their painting it's not possible to make alive eyes anyway).
_but_ if they change the sculpt from almost fitting Ripley'86 into younger, rounder, softer Ripley'79, and if that's what takes so much time - that would be so wonderful

=============

i wonder how they will deal with Weaver's height, as all their female bodies are small.

though that's what wouldn't bother me at all :lol

Yeah, they'd probably make her too short like all their Predator figures. :lol

One thing that I don't like in particular about their female heads, is that they always seem to be too big proportionally for their necks/bodies.

This R.I.P. - ley seems to suffer from that too.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

As mentioned earlier, these catalogs are put out by Hot Toys Japan - a separate entity to HT HQ - and should not be relied upon as an indicator of their release schedule.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

If you want to contact HT and inquire about Ripley, by all means, go right ahead, knock your socks off. But a petition with a dozen signatures on it, or whatever you're planning, very likely won't yield the intended result.

Yeah, it's definitely an all or nothing thing.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

How much do you think the Power Loader with Ripley will cost ?

I dunno how much the original power loader was but id hazard a guess and say based on current pricing structures that this one with ripley included would set you back anywhere between $500 - $600

That sounds about right given how big and heavy the loader alone would be, let alone if Ripley herself comes with any added accessories like a pulse rifle or flame thrower. Add international shipping to that and it would be a pricey item but then again as a huge Alien franchise fan it would be too tempting to pass up on initial release.

I think it was originally around $200. But that was back when a regular figure would cost around $100. So, I agree with your estimate.

YankeesFanboy, i was not suggesting a petition at all.

This is what i was suggesting :
We each email Hot Toys together from our seperate E-Mail accounts on the 1st March.
Hot Toys then receive X number of emails (hopefully many) all asking the SAME THING!

It's just to say WERE ARE ALL STILL HERE AND WAITING and it may push them into releasing a little more info if we are lucky.

I'm not saying anything will happen, you just don't know till you try!

ALIEN.

I distinctly remember the day I paid $250 for the Ripley/Powerloader and thinking that was an insane amount of money to pay for such a thing. There was a lot of hand-wringing involved in that decision. Surely that would be as expensive as these sorts of things could possibly get, right!?

We were so cute back then. :lol

i know lol but even factoring inflation the prices that some of these figures command is astonishing nowadays.

Wasn't Charles Xavier in one of their catalogues? Or did I just dream that?

Either way, it's SUCH a tease. Very frustrating.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Plans get derailed for lots of different reasons. Sometimes it's the company making the figure that's to blame. Sometimes it isn't. I've often heard the reason behind Xavier never making it to market was that Fox and Marvel weren't playing nice behind the scenes.

Did some quick Googling: Forbes

wouldn't their spam filter robot just mark all identical messages from different addresses as "spam"?

and why does "spam" mean both "unwanted advertising" and "ham in a can"? o_O

Very well. And then some low-level flunkie will send each of us - if we're lucky - the same response that was posted earlier in the thread. :lol
