What problem? Deciding on collecting parameters? That's part of the fun.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

My figure collecting philosophy isn't a black and white rule. And like you it would no doubt be looser if I had all the money in the world. But what I've found to be my personal sweet spot of "collecting nirvana" are figures that combine nostalgia for childhood toys with media that I can appreciate as an adult.

So GI Joe and He-Man aren't there because even though I had those toys (especially GI Joe) neither has anything meant to cater to a person over 8 years old. So they're entrenched in nostalgia (which is cool, I'm into that) but that's where it ends.

ALIENS, RoboCop, Black Hawk Down, and so on all appeal to me as an adult but they don't have any corresponding toy nostalgia. It doesn't mean I'd never get a Hicks or Murphy but again they don't have that perfect combination.

Star Wars, LOTR, and Captain America give me that throwback to toys I had or coveted as a kid but also allow me to sit down and watch SW, ESB, TFA, CA:TWS or LOTR and fully appreciate them as an adult with all of my current 41 year old sensibilities and preferences. So that's where I'm at right now. Obviously it's more a guideline than a rule and I could see myself being swayed to purchase whatever at any given time but so far that hasn't happened.

Well said! For me, since NOW there are finally figure/toy representations of movies which had no tie ins, that's great because as a child I saw those movies and wished for them. A good example would be Conan. I wanted a Conan action figure so bad when I was 6 or 7 when I saw the movie, I had to make do with a He-man figure and pretend! Now if HT or whomever EVER releases one it's instant buy for me. The same is true with Terminator, Alien(s). I still need no nostalgic reason to watch the movies, but now that I'll have toy representations of them it's even cooler, suppose that means I never grew up as well! Even though I had all the star wars kenner figs as a child, aside from the 95 POTF release, I've shied away from buying many of then and none of the HT sw figures. I guess since I sold them all for pennies I don't want to reclaim that aspect back, but they're still cool though! When Rey/BB is released I'll have that one as I pre-ordered it. She'll be my first SW one from HT.

hey, don't let misunderstandings affect you!
your skills are with you, you both see details and can show them. people are kind and sharing here. somebody had bad day and shared it with you, so what :D
just post all three faces together on one pic for people who follow the story to enjoy it.

Thank you very much! I think there is something "Lost in traslation". English... I'm from Spain... But I understand you and I agree with you.

The face is still too wide. Makes her head look like a pumpkin on a toothpick. Typical of Hot Toys and female sculpts.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Any word on the Cosbaby figures? I'm normally not a fan of them, but I really like the Alien ones for some reason.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

All you people need to stop complaining about Hot Toys and Ripley in particular if we don't want this site to be out of commission permanently. Hot Toys is watching.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Does anybody actually know why the site has been down so much recently?

I was only just now able to log back into here.
I thought something was wrong with my computer at
first, as another site I frequent has been having issues,
as well. Good to be back on here again.

I suspect the hosting company for SSF, which may host other websites was having issues. I noticed deviantart was also down, but all my other forum sites I'm on were up. I know that if one of my music forums is down, the other music forum is also toast because the same hosting service does them both.
