Why would they omit it from SDCC???.....

they are working on all imaginable ways to delete any articulation and use as much rotting rubber as possible.
originally they hired ssang to make it, as he is famous for his one-piece toys with unexisting articulation, but he sculpted a yellow pikachu, and that was too much.

judging by the lukewarm reception and number of people who have said they will pass on it, I am inferring it probably has mixed sales. I myself have passed although I did strongly consider it as I don't have any 1/6 alien figures. And for a fan such as myself who was on board since the get go with this movie franchise, I have said they nailed the sculpt and paint, it LOOKS great but the lack of poseability it what killed it for me. I would have bought 2 if you could actually pose them in a quasi decent way. Many share this sentiment and have passed as well. I certainly hope they continue it, but I won't buy pieces I don't really want just to help ensure the line continues.

nope, they ruined the paint. it has no varieties between ridges and deep zones. this is how it should look to be a paint hit:

HT must have used these are their references for posing and articulation!!!

instead they (poorly) stole Neca's queen blue/gold paint and didn't highlight all those ridges all over the body.

Why don't get someone to resculpt it, like Yulli who sculpted Civil War Widow? I don't know how the business is run but clearly that does not look like Ripley. I hope they see this and do something. Alien (1979) has been around for decades and deserves a better sculpt amd better efforts. Marvel just stared not even a decade ago. This is sad.

Looks like a young Sigourney Weaver in my opinion, which is all that matters to me. Love the colors on the motion tracker and flame thrower. Though Jones looks like a quick sculpt, I'm good with it. They got my money.

I think people are nitpicking this way too much. If you look for flaws in something like this long enough you WILL find them. Sure it isnt perfect, but at least we are getting a decent ripley figure. These things are pretty much always based on angles anyways, so you're just gonna have to find the right likness angle.

For me, nitpicking is when a likeness is nailed but maybe there's one thing I would have done differently as a matter of preference.

I've of course been guilty of it too (as you'd well know) in the past with other stuff - namely SW related things, but this figure's pretty solid & we've got full blown write off talk going on in here at the moment.

Imagine if they'd kept the toilet brush hair.

Sounds to me like he has a very serious problem with the sculpt and he definitely wouldn't characterise it as nitpicking.

Would you guys agree that this sculpt has the same feeling of effort as that of John Matrix, Ichabod Crane, Bruce Banner? I feel it's in the same catagory of generic likeness. Weaver (young and old) has always had a distinct likeness. I'm just seeing generic here. And I'm not bashing this figure as this is the only figure I want in the current HT offering as there is nothing else I'm interested in.

I will cancel the preorder... I have cancelled Leia (poor quality dress) and I will cancel Ripley (I don't know who is the woman wearing her cloths)

And I'm still thinking that the last sculpt is not this one:

I would stop breathing right now till they remake RIPLEY!!!!
