Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

- it is not ideal, but is there an ideal HT figure?
- this, this and this has so much effort put in it.
- this is just your opinion. and i have my opinion. they still are not ideal.

i always love the "opinion" argument! so useful in any discussion. the result definitely differs from talking to oneself in an empty room. best used right after declaring something for everybody to agree.

In this case I'm gonna be just fine with the 'it's my opinion' argument... Maybe it could end this otherwise endless repetition.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

My concern is that the Ripley proto and SDCC images walk the same line as Batman Returns Bruce Wayne head sculpt. Right off the official preorder images BW needed work and final production piece showed no improvement.

To date I cannot put Ripley in the same catagory as Jack Sparrow, T2 T-800, BD Robocop. Based on proto and SDCC images it falls under the likes of Returns Bruce Wayne, Bruce Banner, Ichabod Crane, & John Matrix which I like to call Hot Toys "Generic Line”.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'd be quite certain at this point that this will be the final sculpt. If it apparently took as long as it did just to get this one approved I don't see them changing it again.

Yeah I kinda agree with you. Sucks as I don’t buy many HT figures (maybe one or two a year), so I want a “Home Run” from the few I have interest in. Ripley is the only figure in the current HT line-up I have interest in. If the final Ripley does not do it for me then there is nothing to look forward too. And as a collector looking forward to nothing is difficult!!

I guess the silver lining is Blitzway Peter Venkman. But then again I have never paid attention to Bliztway products and if the final product turns out to be a pass then…….. as a collector looking forward to nothing is difficult!!

...do you feel it? the discussion goes wider, new facts and investigations are brought into it, new knowledge is born, noosphere spreads.

See and therein lies the whole subjectivity of it all. I was a lot more impressed with the Hot Toys' Ripley prototype in person than I was with Blitzway's Venkman when I saw them in San Diego. Blitzway's Tyler Durden, however, is a ****ing knockout!

That's actually great to hear (about Ripley in person).

You'll probably be in safe hands. What you see is most likely what you will get.

That is the best gosh darn looking Ripley figure I have ever seen. It looks just like her.....just like her. Don't you think so Agro? That's why you posted that picture right? You think it's totally awesome. You don't even have to comment. We know how much you love it.

Fantastic. Looks straight out of the corroridor scene with Parker and Brent looking for Jonesie. Too bad we're not getting the net and cattle prod. Appreciate what we are getting.
