... when you put it in perspective and realise they're just painted pieces of plastic it kinda puts it all in perspective..

I'm annoyed at the delay not because I don't have the figure, (I'm a patient person) but because it keeps pushing powerloader Ripley further into oblivion. I really wanted that one.

I've learnt over time with Hot Toys the stuff you really really want they will never produce. The stuff you really really hate they produce buckets loads of :lol

Well, I wouldn't say I hate the stuff that they produce bucket loads of. I love the Marvel and Star Wars stuff, but I only need one Iron Man figure and I certainly don't need a porcelain china pattern Stormtrooper. That's what has me shaking my head when I don't get my Ripley or T1 endoskeleton.

You got me there. Covenant was exactly as billed. Mediocre.

What I didn't like about Alien: Covenant is that we didn't get to know the characters, not at all, really.
There was a 10 minute long scene that was deleted from the film where you actually get to know the
main cast. I saw bits and pieces of it. It would have made it far easier to care about them, and identify
with them more as they were being killed by the aliens.

This just in: Ripley delayed because rooted hair has to be used for Wonder Woman figures. :lol
"There can be only one" :viking

Not only that, there wasn't anything about them that even made me want to learn more about them. Covenant really stumbled. It's a shame. The whole thing with David I think was the best part, but again I think much of what he did with the explanation given is incredibly thin and as the audience were supposed to just go along with it.

The trouble with such franchises is they return to their money making series films
until the well has run dry. It would take a different director and writer, with a strong
sense of what makes this franchise special, to come up with a different angle, instead
of revisiting all the elements that made the Alien movies great. Sure, they'd have to
use some of what has worked in the past, but they'd need to move into a new direction -
otherwise, they'd run the risk of simply repeating the previous movies.. again.

That seems to me to be a very tall order!

By the time this figure is delivered it will be an easy 3 years from preview to delivery. That's got to be some kind of record.

I'm aware of this, too. I recall reading the entire thread a year or so ago, and the "Rooted hair" versus "Sculpted hair" debates.

At this point, I just want it to look good enough. I don't need perfection here.. just want my Ripley dolly. :)

I heard it was because her little white panties were deemed to be not small enough. So factory staff are having to remove them from every figure so they can be shrunk in a hot wash.

It's the little things that HT strive to get right...
