Pretty sure that film was done totally in pantomime.

Well that explains it. A4 always was a bit twitchy. That could never happen now with our- sorry...no, it could totally happen now.

Howard: If we want to make any decent profit, I say we ditch the Alien fans. No offense.

Everyone in this thread: *throws the middle finger* None taken.

...that must have been Ron Perlman talking about ditching the guy in the wheelchair?

Oh thought of another one from Resurrection...

"who do I have to fu*! to get off this ship"

not very memorable quotes from that movie...

The only problem with Resurrection for me was that it essentially rendered Ripley's sacrifice at the end of A3 pointless. Bringing her back along the alien species she eradicated with her death. Oh, and a new bio-weapons operation is taking place. Great.

Apart from that, it's a fun standalone flick. Certainly more memorable characters than in Prometheus and Covenant.

On a somewhat related note, I wish these producers and writers would quit trying to emulate the previous films in plot points, structure, or tone. Look at all the comics and novels ("book" books, not graphic) that Dark Horse has put out. There's a lot of interesting material in there that we've never seen on-screen and it's a damn shame. The first Alien was a horror film, the second an action adventure, the third a more character-centered thriller. Everything that's come out since then has either tried to mimic 1 or 2. Why? Why not do what each of those films did and be something different than its predecessor?

I wouldn't mind them stumbling with characters or mechanical issues if the premises were at least fresh.

A romantic-comedy alien movie comes to mind as fresh?

Perhaps an all-female cast version would be fresh?

Maybe a mixed genre -- Alien in King Arthur's Court?

My biggest problem with A:R is it's *wink wink* almost parody like tone. It throws in some decent horror moments, but then trashes it with a lot of 90's humor. I can't remember it perfectly, but I remember a lot of great moments being punctuated with a joke that sort of ruined it.

If you're in the mood for that kind of movie, it's not so bad. but it's usually not the mood I'm in for when I think "hey I want to watch an alien movie"

Despite everything, I do think the Newborn Alien is a cool design. It's a lot more interesting than todays creature offerings.

We need an ALIEN movie with a strong white male as the lead. I've had enough of these feminist ALIEN movies :cuss

Even the biggest monster in the series is a female! How dare they!

I really disliked Alien Resurrection. Bizarre script by Joss Whedon that didn't fit the tone of the previous films at all, contrived revival of Ripley as some kind of hyper-sexualised xenomorph/human hybrid, strange production design choices that almost but didn't quite fit with the previous films, that ridiculous-looking Newborn thing, the list goes on.

Imagine if they'd let Ripley stay dead and focused on adapting something like Stronghold or Labyrinth from Dark Horse...

I like how we have one person complaining that the tone of a sequel didn't fit previous films enough, and another person complaining that the sequels don't try to differentiate enough regarding things like tone.

Man, I saw Alien for the first time in July '16 and upon looking for more info after, this figure was one of the first things I found. I joined this forum because of this figure and spent months debating whether or not it would be worth the money. Now, I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger and pre-order. It's been so long, I've completely lost interest in owning it (just enough interest left to keep checking this thread for updates...)

**** why not just jump the shark totally and go this route and encompass 3 genres in a cross over reboot-
