BTW, who was it that was asking why the alien isn't scary any more...?

It break-dances, takes a dump... or lays admiring the grass.

How do you ever make a movie scary again with this thing?

Yesterday I cancelled my Sideshow order... because I bought Ripley directly from HK... No problems until the package is held by customs. The postal service gave me a wrong code and now my package is LOST... :gah:

I'll take the authentic ones above in those pictures over toy design or fan fiction.

Colour me confused.

These are clearly the lighter colour:

Then the one that does for Kane looks dark:

And then lighter at the top:

I think the theory is that the newer eggs are green, and the old ones pale.

I ordered a set of each.

Colour me confused.

The eggs in the original Alien are all a pale, sickly gray. But for the close-up, the egg needed to be partially translucent so that we could see the facehugger fluttering about inside, giving it a darker appearance.

That makes sense.

I think I grew up with green in mind as many years ago I picked up an already built and painted 1/9 Alien and Egg kit. And the egg was green.

FOR THOSE WHO ORDERED FROM SIDESHOW

Just had an email from them :

Please review your shipping information prior to Friday, September 29. If you need to make shipping changes to this order, please contact our customer support team ASAP.

I ordered May 2016.

ALIEN.

I preordered mine May 9th 2016 from Sideshow around 11AM which was about an hr or so after it went live on their site to do so, I haven't received an email like this. Maybe by COB today I will. Be great as my Jyn is also supposed to be shipping very early October too.

Don’t forget that Alien is suitable for kids now too...

That book's a riot!

see any phicen bashes with her in undies like end of film yet? cant be the only perv wanting to see that done :rotfl

That was my intention, but I've found that the phicen bodies (they're called something different now TB League IIRC) getting them to match the painted sculpts are problematic. I still may if I can get one on the cheap as I'm not gonna spend another 230 for one. But I also had the idea about using her undershirt (provided it's not super small) which could be used towards a custom Dallas. IIRC they had similar white shirts (Dallas' jacket being the most problematic piece to source next to a good sculpt). But 'Lucky Star' Ripley is for sure something I'd like to bash up.... ;)

Chris is correct. I also think, as usual with Ridley, he sometimes sacrifices continuity for the sake of a good shot.

The eggs also look dry in the shots with Kane, but wet(ish) all other times.

Fixed.

So, I got mine today, and the first thing I did was undress her so I could redress and futz the suit. For those interested, snapped a couple of pics of the body. It's definitely just a Black Widow body with a smaller chest piece and some ankle extenders. Height-wise, taking into account the poofiness of the hair, she stands about 28.5cm, or about 5'6", so a little on the short side. You could probably extend the extenders (yeah), and it wouldn't effect the suit. The suit in the movie came to about the top of her sneakers, and the suit on the figure has plenty of "room for growth" in that area. Problem is, she doesn't have the classic barbell style extenders. As far as I can tell, the top half is firmly inserted into the leg, and unless you want to do something drastic like crack open the calf and do some mods, it's not gonna be an option available to you.

Here's a couple of quick phone pics. Sorry, I didn't have anything really relevant to compare the body with aside from the original Ripley body I've had in a parts box for years. I considerably downsized my collection a while ago, and this is the first 1/6 figure I've purchased in about five or six years.

This system may work:
