Looks great! I have many spare metal buttons from various HT figs, but they're all silver/steel color. where did you find gold ones?

Thanks! I painted the buttons with a gold metallic paint.

how did you do that. HOW!!!
i got the head, love the face, probably because mouth is sadder and not smirking like HT variant.
but hair drive me insane!
afraid to start cutting, and nothing like "pressing them down for 24 hours" helps.

:lol I molded the hair, mostly with my fingers as mentioned after trimming it. Some use water wax to shape rooted hair.

i still cannot understand how you made hair lie down, but it looks great. don't know if it's accurate, but it definitely is normal.
is it hair gel?

All natural. Some use water wax as previously mentioned.

It's definitely worth the effort guys, the rooted hair gives the figure a more natural look, the paint apps are NOT as good or sharp as the HT head but the rooted hair overcompensates for it IMO.

PS I heard from the Alien ether that Wor-Gar may be pulling his rooted hair out of a drawer and giving it a shot. :)

Maybe the paint apps vary from one head to the next. Mine looks a lot better than the HT paint. I caved in and ordered a second one to use with my Power Loader; I'll see if it's any different than the first one.

uh... I should have been able to figure that one out.

Speaking of Power Loaders, I have the original HT one... I trimmed the rooted hair on the new custom head to convert it to an ALIENS version, and it actually looks pretty damned good- better than I expected, although I did need to glue on some extra hair on the rear lower edge of the head to hide the brown plastic scalp- but it looks fine.

However, handling the original HT Ripley body that came with the Loader reminded me how under-height it is; a full inch too short. (Sigourney is 6" tall) Now with the upgraded head, I want to switch the whole body, to eliminate the exposed elbow joints and add that extra height. I just found and ordered the 'POPTOYS' body shown below, that has seamless rubber arms, small ****s, and leg extenders. $33.00 and free shipping- not too bad. This might be the perfect solution, even if I have to alter it in some ways. Fitting the pants on a taller figure shouldn't be an issue, because there is quite a bit of extra length to the pant legs tucked under the Rebocs.
I can add length to the torso, legs, and the upper arms if needed- because they will be covered by the white T-shirt sleeves. A taller ALIENS Ripley with no visable elbow joints will be a nice change- and I can hide the left wrist joint by making a custom silver wristwatch.

Dunno, the original body is actually not bad as the torso is longer than most female figures that tend to have way too long legs and small torsos.
Here is a height comparison to the HT Alien Ripley (I have exchanged the arms only). Almost the same height.
And my Alien3 Ripley is on the same body and she’s close to male figure height. Because of the longer torso you can extend the legs more than I did without her looking silly. And you can plug in other arms. So in fact I’m a fan of the original HT body - one of the most natural looking female bodies out there.

I agree it's a good body, but it's just not tall enough for me- and has exposed elbow joints.
Because Sigourney Weaver is 6" tall, her face is framed by the Power Loader cage bars in a certain way.
The Hot Toys body is 11" tall. That means Ripley's face sits so low in the cage, that her mouth and chin are obscured behind the two lower horizontal cage bars. You can see in the photo below that Ripley's face is supposed to be fully visable and well above those two lower bars, and the top of her head is fairly close to the ceiling of the cage. For myself, the logical way to reproduce that accurately is to make Ripley 12 inches tall.

Also- taking the body out of the Power Loader to switch heads and bodies has motivated me to FINALLY fix all the broken rubber hose connections, after all these years.

Oh yes, if you show her in the PL more height would be great. ...I’m not sure when I’ll get to fixing the hoses on mine. Did you just glue them or did you use the set of metal pins that someone once did for it?

I'm just going to glue them. I'm not prepared to spend $100 on the steel custom peg set, even though it's very nicely done. If they break off again, I'll keep gluing them on again, until I ...... die.

Glue never worked for me AND I created ugly shiny marks in the attempt. Granted I'm quite amateur and impatient.

I felt the same way. As nice as the custom steel peg set was, I just couldn't pay that much for it. I ended up using brass tubing cut to size and super-glued into previously drilled holes on the PL where the original pins had broken off. I then glued the hose ends to the brass tubing. It all came out ok.

a-dev, I used the thick gel super-glue which kept it all clean, as it doesn't run.

Does anybody have a good scan of the original PL owner's manual?
I searched but found nothing. I want to make sure I glue the hoses in the correct places; hose 'A' goes to peg 'B', etc.
I lost my original PL box and instruction sheet in a flooded garage years ago.

(as an homage to Giger, I might glue hoses onto Ripley's nipples. Or Nipley's ripples. Either way, Giger would approve.)
