Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

The Queen isn't as large as many people seem to think she is. Look at the scene in the film where Ripley grasps the queen with the power loader claws, ready to drop her into the airlock. A HT queen IS doable, and if it ever happens, my price guess is $479.

Well, NECA's Queen, in the 7-inch scale, is about 30 inches long. If HT follows the same scale, its Queen would be about 55 inches long. Under $500, really?

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

the actual alien queen prop was nearly 7 feet tall! And in the movie the queen hunches a lot.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Whatever the size and price of a 1/6 Hot Toy's Alien Queen ends up being would be worth it. Possible epic fight pose with Ripley on the shelf.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Wow, the headsculpt on this is great. Jonesy could use a little work too, to create a fur effect. I'd love to see a revised Big Chap to go with them!

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I shall make do with the NECA Queen VS loader.

Though I doubt I'll be able to pass on a kitted out Aliens version of Ripley and the USCMs (Hot Toys).

Imagine a shelf that looks a little like this. Hicks, Hudson, Vasquez, Drake and Bishop are layups. Surprise me, HT, in mid-2015 leading up to '16. Start at the next SDCC.

I think the difference between HT pulling the plug on making something as enormous as The Bat (which would be WAY bigger and more involved) and them producing the Queen Alien is that a LOT more people would buy the Queen. The Bat would have been a novelty item for a handful of uber-collectors around the world. But the Queen? I could totally see them attempting it. In fact, I'd be very surprised if they don't. Would she be huge? Of course. Would she be well over two feet tall with a super long tail? Sure.

And would she also be tops on a lot of collectors want lists? Absolutely.

Just my two cents.

(Which are being deposited immediately into my HT Queen Alien Fund. :lol)

Understatement of the year. That Jonesey is about the worst thing ever to be sculpted in plastic. Thanks goodness Ripley comes with a flamethrower so that she can kill it with fire.

I think its the same as that awful godfather cat, just different pose. They just can't sculpt cats :)

Imagine the QC issues something like that might have though. She would have to have some special stand
to hold her up too.

As long as they make a good sized stand and firm foot-holds, it wouldn't bother me if they minimize the leg joint articulation for the sake of stability. The head, jaw, tail, and four arms would offer plenty of posing options.

HT could even try inventing a new joint-locking system for the queen's hips, knees and ankles. Not ratchet joints, but actual locks. That way, you could choose your pose and lock the joints in place for a stable display, which can always be changed later. Perhaps a system of metal pins that fit into holes or something like that.

Because of the skeletal nature of the queen's body, and her fairly thin limbs and tail, the overall weight shouldn't be off the charts.
Many parts could be made hollow to reduce excess weight also, the torso especially.

maybe a diorama base with a hidden crotch holder and her tail could balance her like a Godzilla figure. And maybe a switchable tail in attack stance too aiming forward towards the Power Loader? But prob. not would sound too good to be true.

I really thought the preorder for this was going to happen during spooktacular. Oh well. The wait continues.

She looks like the Ultimate Warrior there. That hair, that frame...
