The posing potential is just exceptional. A Spider-Man that can pose up a storm is worth its weight in gold to me. As much as I love my other 1/6 Spideys, the suits are just so restrictive. This, however, brings the character to life in a way that does justice to the source material.

This is going to be one of those "wish I had it" figures for many a few years from now.

Very nice review, I love how this is presenting so much stronger than anticipated.

I'm a huge fan of the black costume, so bear with me and my obligatory PSA:

It's so painfully common for people to think SW 8 is the first appearance of the symbiote suit, but it is not. You'll find plenty of listings on ebay that say it is, and my LCS even had one labeled as such. SW 8 is the origin of the black costume, it's dated 12/84. Amazing Spider-man 252 is dated 05/84. That makes SW8 somewhere around the symbiote's 20th published appearance, I'm guessing. If anyone tries to sell you Secret Wars 8 on the strength that it is the first appearance, it is not. That honor goes to ASM 252, with Marvel Team Up 141 and Spectacular Spider-Man 90 tied for second place. 🙂
Yeah I was buying comics at the time and that sounds right. It was because they all left for SW, then the SW run started but it’s not like they could just stop all the titles during SW, so Spidey comes back with the black suit but we don’t know exactly what the suit is for a few issues and then from memory the whole “you mean it’s alive” with RR then issue 8 of SW. I’m old so i might not have that exact right lol.

Will doubly confirm.

Amazing Spider-Man 252. Drawn by the legendary Ron Frenz.

I run a rather passionate Spider-Man Discord and we had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Frenz just last Friday, with a lot of talk about the origins of the suit. He wasn't the primary designer (that honor goes to Michael Zeck), but he did get the suit to the store shelves first and introduced it to readers. A lot of the design, art, and print was being done simultaneous and collaboratively.

Also will take a moment to say Ron Frenz is the most delightful, passionate Spider-Man guy I've ever come across thus far, and I've spoken with a lot of writers and artists. It was enjoyable to see how the plans for the suit shifted and changed as the story progressed.
