I kind of liked the Velocity Suit but will try to hold out for the no guarantees 2099 suit.
Man, I'm SO disappointed they announced three new figures from the game but none of them are the classic/comic suit. I really don't understand it- OF COURSE that version would sell more than any of these newly-announced ones (I mean, the Negative Suit and the Velocity Suit, really??), so why aren't they making it?
It is called good business. Sure classics will sell well...it will always sell well. But spider-man is real hot right now, and you strike with all the unique suits now. Then, when things slow down a bit, you release the tried and true sellers to keep money rolling in.
Think of it like oil drilling. A lot of companies don't drill much anymore on territory on land they control. That is the retirement fund, and keeps supply somewhat limited (difficult to do with OPEC globally.) What you push for is deep-sea and reservation land drilling. Create some scarcity and urgency for harder areas to drill, but still very profitable. Eventually when the environment dies, or market changes, then at least you have a nest-egg of much cheaper to extract oil in your backyard at a fraction of the cost.
Of all these Spider babies, the ons that still need to release are electro Spidey, ghost rider Spidey, Big Time Spidey, 2099 and Doc Ock Spidey. I would have never expected they will manufacture the Velocity and the Negative one...
So Raimi might take while. There won't be a Spidey movie in the next few years, probably between the next Spidey movie release and now.

It's business. If Hot Toys release the classic suit first, people won't even care about the other suits, won't buy them. Do you think most people would buy Spider-Punk, Negative Suit, or Velocity Suit after they got the definitive Spidey, The Classic Comic Suit? So HT have to milk it first. Still, I think Iron Spider and 2099 would sell well.
Yeah yeah yeah, you are all right about this "do all of the other suits first" idea, but that doesn't mean I can't feel disappointed about the lack of a Classic Suit at this year's SDCC, right?

I could totally go for the Anti-Ock suit. That looks bad @ass. Wish they'd done that one instead of Velocity.

Nah.People buy a suit because they like it, not because the classic suit isn't available.
I see a lot of confused and frustrated comments on these forums whenever a new spidey that isn't the classic suit is announced. Some people can't seem to figure out the classic suit isn't everyone's favorite. It's absolutely iconic, yes. Will I buy it when it comes out? Sure. But I didn't buy spider-punk and scarlet spider because it's not available. Of course Hot Toys is holding it back. They can bring it out whenever and it'll sell extremely well, but if you look at it as purely a figure, it's very plain compared to the announced suits. Also, color-wise and style-wise, very similar to the movie suits, so I can understand Hot Toys focusing on visually more outlandish designs at the moment.
