The forehead is a bit bigger, otherwise everything looks fine to me, Tsang finally done something good this time instead of using an old mold again & again, guess he learnt a lesson from the P2 Elder Predator lol
It's just that I am hoping for a huge blade like the Macfarlanes's Elder, although that didn't appear in the movie but still...

how is that even with better prosthetic tech and higher budgets they can't make a pred face that looks anywhere near as good as the original?

I think it's more of a stylistic thing. Different efx companies have handled the predators througbout the years. I personally think they all look great. They're all different, with unique traits. I don't think the original predators comprise some "master race" of predators as some do...I see all the differences that exist in all the predators as different types of variations in their biology within the predator species. Like how not all birds or reptiles look the same, predators also have distinct biological variations, varying from tribe to tribe, age, etc.

At least that's how I see it.

Maybe they didnt want to try and copy it and piss off the fans. So they decided to try and make their own thing.

of course they don't, because there are no other predators => no "master races". all the rest are some strange creatures not matching predators in anything - appearance, behaviour, background legend. being secondary to originals and far worse in story/design quality makes them bootlegs, that is all.
