Hot Toys extreme greed was not going to let them pass up on releasing this again..

Umm... You do realize Hot Toys is a business and exists to make money right? It's not greed. It's recognizing demand and creating supply in order to fill it. It's the most very basic law of business economics. Greed would be them inflating demand by hoarding figures and selling them on the secondary market for 3 times retail.

How dare a company make a product that people want?! THOSE MONSTERS

Yeah for real. I don’t understand some people’s mentaility. So I guess Hot Toys should only ever make 1 version of any character so they’re not seen as greedy. Or car companies should only make 1 version of a car, phone companies make 1 version of cell phone etc

Honestly, I think it's "angry young man syndrome". Everyone is out to keep you down blah blah blah... I guess a juvenile point of view is ok when your 15 or 16 but I'd think a person collecting figures like this would have a better grasp on how money works. Unless it's their mommy and daddy paying for them.

I feel like there's a lot of "everything is someone else's fault" attitude with figure collectors. Didn't buy a figure that now goes for a ton of money on ebay? It's clearly the fault of the "greedy scalpers" or "dumb buyers." Never the fault of the collector who decided not to purchase it when it was on sale at retail for months, or when it was clearly starting to sell out and become more scarce. Personally I always blame myself for being dumb if I miss out on a figure I'm interested in that goes up in price later on. Feeling that way about the Mk 47 for a few weeks now, lol. Same for people getting upset that their collectible is not worth as much once a new version of the character comes out. It's the company's fault for making another figure, not the collector's fault for thinking these are some kind of investment.

Just like I predicted! Hot Toys extreme greed was not going to let them pass up on releasing this again. I mean it's ok for companies to want to make a profit but hot toys set a new standard for extreme greed. Like I said before I am sure Howard spends a lot of time on eBay looking at prices figures are going for and getting very upset because he feels entitled to all that money
It's probably only a matter of time before hot toys start a scalper division where they hold back several hundred figures of characters they expect to be hot sellers so they could sell a scalper prices later.

It would only be greed if Hot Toys charged $700 for it. They are just releasing a product because there is high demand for it. You call it greed, I call it smart business sense keeping their customers happy. I'm also not sure why I'm replying to you either. I see your posts on here a lot, you have a terrible attitude and seem to be trying to stir things up all the time.

Also, nobody knows how the market is going to react. Nobody thought the 47 or DS1 would spike like they have. The 47 was mocked by many collectors as a product of HT greed. I guess everyone is greedy. HT, sellers, collectors.

The secondary market fluctuation is part of the game when collecting Hot Toys or anything.

I paid a premium for my DS1, not super crazy, but I but I don’t have ill will for the seller, or any other seller that is offering a sold out product at a premium. Just something I’ll now consider moving forward when looking at sold out items.

I’m personally looking forward to adding a 2nd Dr Strange to the PC with different accessories. He’s a great character, deserving of multiple releases. And the figure should be well made since it’s almost the same as the original, so limited worries there.

I will laugh if they announce IW Dr. Strange this week.

Lol. This post is the second thing I thought of after seeing the new one on Instagram!

The first thing was “Sheet, I’m buying that!”

Oh absolutely. But I do think it should be pretty much assumed that unless a figure hangs around at retail for something like 6+ months, it will always go up in price to some degree once it sells out. And prices always seem to spike right after sell out and slowly come back down a bit, from what I’ve noticed (lots of panic buying).

:exactly: I picked up the 1st one for $148, so everyone had their chance when it was out. I have missed some figures that i would like to had in the collection (and probably never will be redone. Blade for example) but are to pricey to pick up now. I just look at it as part of the game. Some others i missed i have managed to track down and pick up for a fair price. It might take awhile like i think i waited a couple years before finding a great deal on the mech test stark figure.

I also doubt the ones complaining about prices would sell something for retail if the going rate was 2 to 3 times that. That said i do feel a little for people who just paid $600-$800 for this.

Just tell yourself that that Blade figure would never last long in your collection with that old pleather material suit. At least that’s the sorta thing I like to tell myself about figures I missed out on, lol.

This is the absolute truth. Real Estate is an investment... Not actions figures. I can understand being angry if your local toy shop is always out of stock on a hot new figure and you have to buy them on eBay from a power seller with the same zip code... But otherwise you can't argue with supply and demand.

Remember when everyone reported that one seller who had an auction for a new IW figure? :rotfl

And he should have been reported. It is against eBay policy to have a preorder for a figure that will not ship within 30 days. Let alone for a figure that wasn’t even confirmed. Hot toys wasn’t accepting his money for an order and if he had actual insider info he would have just waited till then. Also, he had multiple positive reviewed for the figure in his history. Pretty hard to have a buyer receive and be happy with something he listed as a PO and for a figure a year out.

Both really good scuplts. I can't pick one over the other. Might like the style of the hair a little more on the 1st but that is about it.

I think the hair is the only difference. And paint. Seems to be the same face.

Seeing them side by side with such clarity I think I might be leaning towards the newer one now. I like the eyebrows and the hair a bit more. Both look great though.

I don't know, chin looks more square to me on the newer one, right eyebrow cocked, cheeks more thinned out (could just be the paint), and the lips are parted on the mouth giving it a different shape.

Or maybe I'm just seeing things. :lol
