:lol

Okay James. I'm going to have to ask you for before and after pictures! I'm wondering if maybe your Chewie wasn't as bad as the others out there, because it seems crazy that only a little mustache trim and coloring could change the look that dramatically!

If look back you can see all the pictures
I haven't got them on iphone anymore

It's really bad. God,I'm going to have to cancel this two pack and risk not getting a han at all

James - my sincere apologies. I was not in anyway judging or critiquing your work.

In fact cheers, to you for making such a valiant effort to what should be a perfect figure out of the box for 250 usd at least.

My comment was directly solely at the product- the poor result from hot toys.

And if my feedback on the product is offensive to anyone apologies again - I am simply stating my opinion which I believe is part of the point of the forum. But I will strive to be more precise in my comments and not imply criticism of other members especially when not warranted.

To be honest, I don't think there are any bad pics other than the first that became available of the figure in hand. He may look a little goofy out of the box, but it's fixable...mostly.
I don't think I have the funds to buy this but had it been a homerun I would have sold more plasma.

Han looks great, chewy looks ok. I think I'll limit my TFA to Rey and BB8 and Luke, unless they make Tarkin.

Looking forward to this Solo. Not as over the moon on the sculpt as most seem to be. But in hand all these HT SW figures are true gems. Chewie still looks weird though.

Thanks. :lol I even commented on them at the time! Yours seems to have the upper lip a little better than most, but as was said back then, thinning out the mustache hair will help.

The difference is that Rian is a real filmmaker. So many directors today are just regurgitators - take established intellectual property and do their take and cash the check. They don't even do what Spielberg did in his heyday - find original stories that have powerful cultural resonance and guide them to the screen.

JJ is a byproduct of this era of endless reboots, sequels and franchises (two dozen Marvel films in less than ten years.) The original stuff he actually wrote years ago is long-forgotten garbage ("Regarding Henry" was the first JJ-Harrison film:lol) and he really hasn't written much original since. One of the few, "Super 8" could/should have been "Stranger Things" but was forgettable.

Rian has a unique vision - and is a real writer-director - so what he does with SW could be as cool as the ANH days. Yet he's following a mediocre comfort-food film in TFA, and has Disney hovering over him, so who knows.

Well said. Disney (marvel and Lucasfilm) have done a very good job so far with their films. They seem to hire young, creative directors and give them just enough room while they work. But I think JJ said it best when he said something like "you better give that damn mouse the cheese he likes or it's ur head in the trap!"

But ur comment above gives me HOPE. And to quote a classic "rebellions are built on a new hope".

I may have messed up my quotes [emoji20]

BUT I am very much looking forward to seeing what Rian gives us [emoji106]

Ever since the Brother's Bloom I've been very excited to see anything from Rian Johnson. The fact that he's written and directed a Star Wars saga movie still blows my mind. I can't wait to see if these fit like chocolate and peanut butter.

That was a huge dud wasn't it? I liked Brick and Looper but that one didn't do anything for me.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Regarding Chewie, I sense it's going down the usual route for figures where the first reaction is an epic meltdown to how bad it looks, ensued by an "I guess it's not so bad after all."

James always gets the best figures shipped to him.

Because he is not James the cat... he is James Chan... James the son.

No need to apologies you should be able to say what you feel about it negative or positive.

Not sure, I saw it way after it was in theatres. I thought the concept and the script were excellent. I loved the story-telling framework and the overall story structure. It was fun, quirky and clever. The characters also have a Wes Anderson vibe that work surprisingly well.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I enjoyed it a lot myself, except for

the ending. I don't quite remember, but I just know that it was a real downer especially after the rest of the movie was so fun and quirky.

I have faith in Rian. I also loved the hell out of TFA. Gets better for me with every viewing. Trevorrow is the one that worries me.

Random thought--am I the only one who wishes these figures had two separate threads? I'm getting Han and interested in the discussion here on that figure, but I absolutely could not care less about Chewie and find it kinda annoying to have to wade through all the posts about him. Just my thoughts. I mean, aren't the ANH versions in separate threads?

It's the Wes Anderson vibe that threw a lot people off in the first place. If I remember correctly people viewed it as a 2nd rate Anderson rip off. I have to revisit it myself.
