Hard to tell if release dates will hold. HT hasn't been known for punctuality. Besides, that many releases won't help keeping releases schedules on time either.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

The dress leaves something to be desired. It was always generic, but it looks a little too...stiff. It could still be prototype like at the moment. I think it needs to drop more softly around her. As for the headsculpt, it's gorgeous! Love it.

I picked up Luke, but have passed on Han and Chewie thus far. I'm not sure how I want to do my Star Wars representation yet. When I saw Luke I thought, "Let's go with the entire A New Hope lineup" and I still think that'd look great. But I decided to pass on Chewie and Han...though Han looks a lot better now than he did! I'd still prefer a slight smirk, or arrogance to his look though.

This Leia is still on the table...I think her and Luke would look great together. But then again, Empire Leia with Empire Han/Chewie (this is all IF they get made) would be an awesome trio as well! I could just PO Han, since Chewie is one that'll always come out looking like Chewie. They'll either do him again down the road, OR, he'll be what he is. Then I'd have the ANH trio, which is also good. The question is do I want any future pieces from sequels. Aside from Slave Leia, who we're forced to get because Slave Leia. :lol

The waiting game may be my best route at the moment...

Yeah, the outfit doesn't seem to flow/hang very well, but maybe that's a futzing issue. Something with Lycra or rayon might have draped better but it wouldn't have had that translucent quality.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

This figure looks great (or rather, the head sculpt looks great), but like Golden, I'm hoping for Empire Leia and Han releases. I know that ANH is the more iconic Leia look with the hair buns, but it wasn't my favorite look for her (it still trumps that Ewok princess look though). I don't see this selling out, so I'll also be playing the waiting game for ESB versions, if they ever come out.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

well come on guys the outfit is an easy fix and there's tons of time for it. I'd much rather talk about what they could include with this figure as some extras. I mean just a gun is not much. How bout the death star plans or something.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

The figure looks great in person. In fact, compared to all the other human HT Star Wars figures displayed at the Con, she felt the most spot on to me. Hopefully they can revisit the fabric, but a fine piece regardless.

That seems to be my impression from the photos. Awesome that you got to see it in person. I sort of feel like if I could only buy one HT Star Wars human figure I would likely go with this, very impressed with the head sculpt.

I'm hoping her hands can hold a stormtrooper blaster, that would really look good.

The display hands seem soft on detail. I'm hoping there's a few options for hand poses.

A slightly scaled tactical table. It would double as a c-3po display too.

Surprised there still haven't been any official photos of this yet. They already put some up of Stormtrooper Luke who was revealed at the same time.

He was a planned con/toy fair exclusive though. And using parts that were all done for the most part. I'm sure Leia and Boba will be up pretty soon though. Vader and Ben were shown at an Asian con but the pre-orders took a while (at least in Ben's case I think).

The sculpt has grown on me... but I still think it's too generic. But, so far HT has been a bit of a disappointment when it comes to the proto sculpts... but before production seems to turn it around.

I think the revised ANH Han sculpt (while still a bit off) is a huge step in the right direction... I think this one is starting out closer, but needs a bit more of Carrie Fisher's specific look added into it.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

I spent quite a bit of time checking her out at the Con. Her face looks amazing in person, really captures Fisher in the eyes. I do have to say that my immediate reaction to the dress was disappointment mainly due to the material. It looked stiff and a cheap fabric but I have faith that will get sorted out in production. I liked her blaster as well. Overall was very happy seeing her in person and having her right there with all the other figures she does come off as the best likeness.

I have to say that seeing Obi Wan in person, I thought he looked much better than the photos and Han looked good in the seat of the Falcon cockpit and out the back door but Chewie's face is messed up. His muzzle sticks out so far and looks like a different animal... He is the only one I think needs redoing at this point. Leia will be a definite buy for me though.

Thanks for this, Travis! It helps making decisions ...

:lol

:lol It really does. I've seen it a few times in this thread alone.

You know why sayings become "old chestnuts?" Because they're true.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

There's no denying that the face looks stunning! I LOVE the sculpt! The outfit may be an easy fix, but it's the question of whether or not they'll do it. Then there's just the question of do you want to spend $220 on it. That's the going rate for most figures now, and we're long past the times when that required them to have loads of accessories. Sometimes they just come with a gun...it's unfortunate, but that's kinda how it is.

I ordered Luke without much question. I pretty much just jumped in, as the only other one I'd want from him is Jedi Luke from RotJ...but this one just looks great. Again, Leia's HS is fantastic, and I see her likeness completely, but I'm just not sure that's the one I want to spend the money on -- especially if I'm going to go with an Empire Han.

I always loved that Han and Leia spent the entire second movie together...it was like their own complete side story, while Luke did his thing. I'd love that in Hot Toy form, even though -- as it's been mentioned -- this is the more iconic look. If it was $150 I'd be all in...of course that's a silly price these days, but the outfit is INCREDIBLY generic (which it should be, as it was in the film) so really it's just the head sculpt and gun here...even though I said above that it's the baseline price, this one still seems like it should be a lot lower.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

If they make a Slave Leia they will need to resculpt and reduce her face. She had the chubbier face in ANH, but I think Lucas had sent her to fat camp before shooting RotJ.

Yes. Or $199 if they want to price it like Gamora.

This is the first human Star Wars sculpt HT has nailed, and it's possible they'll never make a sculpt with the Leia buns (her most iconic look) if they move on to other versions. This is basically a day one pre-order (I'll still wait until coupon eligible unless the exclusive is too good to be true). Still hesitating on Ben, Han, Chewie, and even Luke, but not this one.

Given the issue of accessories, this figure would have made such a natural 2-pack with Luke. The poncho (which she drapes over him) and the hat with goggles (which isn't even in the movie) could have been the bonus accessories.

re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS298 - Star Wars: Episode IV - Leia Organa Collectible Figure

Not a bad looking 1/6 scale figure at all ... just wish it wasn't going to cost $200+ but I guess there's no getting around the price point. My only real issue (which has been the same issue I've had with all the 1/6 Alderan Leia figures) is the material used for the dress.

I saw a traveling SW exhibit a few years ago and the actual dress on display. Appears it's made of some sort of silkly material and basically just hangs off the body. All the 1/6 scale figures released so far make the dress look like it's been starched to death by the dry cleaners. Supposed using the proper material is a price concern but can't believe that since 1978's original 12" Leia that the material has been basicially the same.
