LEDs emit a miniscule amount of UV light, and HT has historically used LED lighting in their figures. This looks like just a purple (so-called blacklight) LED

Not all models - it can, but it's almost insignificant and typically in more expensive units. High levels of blue light can cause some eye damage, though. That being said a blacklight does not equal purple light and vice versa. Purple LEDs don't trigger glow properties like a true black light.

So are the lights harmful?

Potentially, maybe, yes - if it's a true blacklight LED that puts out a full UV spectrum. I'm inclined to think they are playing with other fluorescent properties though. It's cheaper.

Want to pick this guy up! Missed the Civil War, and agree about the mask not looking as good. This suit has grown on me however, and being his solo film entry makes in more appealing. Doubt I will use the glow feature much, but nice touch if it works well on final product. Picking him up though may depend on if they stick to the release window.

Want to pick this guy up! Missed the Civil War, and agree about the mask not looking as good. This suit has grown on me however, and being his solo film entry makes in more appealing. The way my collection is looking I'll have all the original Avengers from the AoU movie, and the added guys are all leads from their respective solo movies (Ant-Man, Dr Strange, Spiderman, and likely Black Panther) ... call me OCD, but there's something quite appropiate about that..

Yeah, glow feature aside entirely I dig this suit a bit more than the CW version. The revised cowl, ‘necklace’, and imprints are great. He does look a bit less menacing (probably a design element to increase how menacing Killmonger will look in juxtaposition), but gains a stealthy grace, if that makes any sense.

It depends on the source. UV lamps powered by tiny batteries just do not have the energy to damage human tissue. The sun is far worse culprit.

Wow, have not seen them put something up without a NRD and then add it later. It's even twice what SSC is charging. I can't blame them, they are probably getting tired of undecided people ordering and canceling all the time. They have a ton of old HT figures still in stock.

Interesting. While yes, they're stuck with some older stock, they also have been clearing out the more recent stuff too like Spidey - and I have no doubt that Black Panther will be wiped out all the same.
