The IW version is truly a one of a kind collectible figure now that he ditched the beard and has a different suit

That doesn't mean it was well-made though. Something can be unique and something can also be uniquely sh itty...and HT's work on the final product of the bearded Cap falls into that latter.

I feel that way about most of the Infinity War figures that have been released so far. Really hope the Endgame figures aren’t rushed

Yeah I feel that way too a bit. I think the dr. Strange one will come out really well. It's a shame because I love this look of Cap. But I feel like they really did hasten the releases. So I might sit the whole line out and see what comes up later.

If the costumes are dire in the next one it'll be a shame though, because I do really like the look of Iron Spider, Cap and Thor and don't want to miss out on them if they don't have similar or better looks.

Strange is easy as it's 97% the same figure as the 1st release. Is still think these would have all looked the same even if they had taken longer to release. look at how much time they had with Drax and Stormtrooper Han and people still complain about them.

Meh, guy looks amazing to me. Scuplt is fine, built like a tank, suit fits snuggly and outlines his figure, great glaive weapon, and outrider to stand on. Will be my one and only Cap. Rugged and dangerous

Agree. Who cares if it’s not spot-on? If you guys have seen the Avengers: Endgame trailer, Caps shaves the beard off. This may be the only time you will ever get a bearded Cap.

I really don't understand how people can simply write off the subpar work on the head sculpt by rationalizing that it's a one-off and a unique figure, so therefore you must accept it because otherwise you will miss out.

That is not justification for buying it. When you do that you are essentially telling Hot Toys that it's okay that they dropped the ball on the quality...and guess what, if they think the consumers are okay with just B or C level work and people will buy it, then why bother putting in A effort? And pretty soon you'll start to see even more figures that are off a bit here and there, but oh no, if I don't buy it I'll miss out!

This is our hard-earned money and we spend a ridiculous amount of it for the QUALITY and incredible accuracy/likeness of these figures. But then again, it is YOUR money so you can do whatever you want with it and I guess that includes buying a disappointing release because as you stated "who cares?" This may be the only time you will ever get a bearded Cap...so settle for mediocrity and spend that money on mediocrity!

Gotta agree here. HT knows better; they just threw some accessories in as candy and figure people will buy anyway. If people really enjoy this figure, great, at least it looks like a decent HT body.

But I'm not seeing anything much better here than a NECA figure at (rising) HT prices. Even the earlier Caps have appeal and get the feeling HT really WORKED at the figs - accessories and costume (esp. something like Rescue Cap). A lot of articles I read describe HT figs as "high end".

My "high end" figs $$$$ should BE high end. And it's a **** thing for HT to try to take advantage of customers like that, figuring that 'coz this is the only IW Cap it would get purchased by a lot of people 'coz it's the IW Cap. In his crispy, not-screen-accurate, plastic uniform:pfft:. Huh.

Not trying to start an argument here. I’m here to defend the Hot Toys sculptors, not the company, even though I honestly don’t know who they are.

I haven’t gotten mine, but for me the fig is “good enough not to cancel”. It may be because, after Winter Soldier, Cap is my favorite MCU character. It may just be my bias, but to me the fig is “good enough” for a purchase. I am not happy with the $267 sticker price, but if it’s the only bearded Hot Toys fig I’m ever going to get, I’m getting it. If they come out with a better-looking version in the future, I can always sell this one.

I am an amateur miniature sculptor (showing a pic of my work to reinforce my point, NOT TO ADVERTISE or something) and I am my biggest critic, but I also realize that sometimes things I make are “good enough” because if I keep tweaking them, I will never finish. An artist’s work is not always “perfect”. There will always be something “off” with it or someone will always find something wrong with it. There will always be hits and also misses.

To me, these aren’t just toys. They’re pieces of art. If you don’t like it, nobody’s forcing you to buy it!

Okay but you also have to realize the fact that this hobby along with almost every other hobby is based solely on the consumers opinion on what they are purchasing. In my eyes, this sculpt looks exactly like Chris Evans. I have no gripes with it. So while you may be accusing people of being okay with sub par quality, this figure is not sub par quality to everyone. The fact of the matter is that some people will like a figure, some won't, I don't think it's worth arguing over the quality of a headsculpt when in reality it's all a matter of perspective. Some will like it, some will not, it's that simple. Why don't we instead leave the thread for people who will actually be purchasing the figure, showing off some cool photos or pointers on the figure instead of continuously repeating why some are not going to buy it.

I’m honestly more pissed ATM with Takara and the Transformers MP-44 Masterpiece Optimus Prime. If you’re talking about ridiculous price increases, we’re talking about a $200 to $250 price hike here. I got my Hasbro MP-10 Prime for $125 (later releases like MP-30 Megatron was about $230). It makes the $25-$50 price hike from Hot Toys seem reasonable compared to this.

You guys must be new here......[emoji38]
Lol that obvious huh? I do honestly think it's hilarious how people will sit and repeat over and over again why they hate a figure and won't be buying it on a thread though. If you don't like it then don't buy it, doesn't seem that complicated to me.

Someone should post “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it” every 5 posts.

Well I suppose if you think that repeating why you aren't gonna buy a figure for attention is productive then..... by all means. Lol

The problem with this argument is that your reference point for great work is Hot Toys. No other company could even come close to the work of Hot Toys in general or even with this specific figure.

So yes, people will buy this Cap because it is Hot Toys. People are brand loyal and I can fully understand why people would still want this.

There’s no other IW Cap remotely close to this on the open market. And it is a unique offering from Hot Toys.

If this was the only Cap offered by a startup company then yes, maybe I can see your argument. But in reality it is a Cap offered in the long line of Caps and it will be eventually be sought after because it’s IW Cap.

That wasn't my argument...my main point is that people are SETTLING. They may not say it in those exact words and they may not even want to admit it, but their actions speak for themselves.

When the general sentiment is that the sculpt is off, but good enough and you buy it anyways, then, yes, you are settling. When your rationale is this is a "unique" release and you must buy it then you are settling.

Like I said earlier, it's YOUR money, free feel the spend it (waste it) however you like, but if you wanna settle for a subpar release because HT won't make another bearded Cap again, then by all means throw your money away. :lol
