I don’t mean to start anything with you man, but to claim the new sculpt isn’t better is crazy. To point out the fact they “stole” the sculpt, continuously, would be to admit it to be better no? No one questions where a bad sculpt came from genuinely.

I understand you don’t like Howard’s business plan or his personality that you seem to know to a T. It’s when you take it to the lengths of undermining product that artists are making, through a biased lense. I don’t care about Howard or the other CEOs of his competing companies, I care about Ledger Joker in sixth scale, enough.

To be fair, given how your response had a little bite to it, and given the heated exchange we had in the past, I’d say you DID mean to start something…which is why I offered a truce. And seeing as you are willing to bury things with me, I’d say we’re off to a decent start.

As for my rebuttal:

No. I do not think the new sculpt is better, nor did I say it was anywhere near bad, NOR did I insinuate they stole anything. I specifically said they purchased it and repurposed it based off of what YOU told me a while back. Forgive me for not remembering the artists name, but this portrait was from that sculptor no? And you told us this didn’t you? Or was it someone else? Now I’m all mixed up.

But let’s run with that: So in a way, it was outsourced and the reason why I use that as a point to give HT a hard time is because they’re HT, THE biggest 1/6 company out there and they still struggled to get ledger right with their own ‘in-house’ team.

I despise H.Chan and the people RUNNING the company, but I’ve always respected their artists. I have criticized their work, which is normal and as long as it’s constructive and not toxic, it should be encouraged. But I’ve never crapped on the talent…save for JC Hong. And that’ll lead into this:

Why am I not feeling this portrait?

Because to my eyes, it carries the essence of ledger. Which is where JC comes in. If the origin of this sculpt is true, here are my thoughts:

1-it WAS an AWESOME sculpt.
2-but once HT got their hands on it and repurposed it by adding articulated eyes and the HT style paint app, JC Hong just couldn’t resist and just HAD to inject HIS brand of direction into it: by making it idealized.

The picture I created and posted above was to show people here (believe it or not, the purpose of that picture was NOT targeting you) that were on cloud 9 with this new sculpt…I’m like…really?? Not crapping on anyone…it’s just I don’t see it. Anyway…

I broke out the 4K UHD and scrubbed through the movie to find the one scene or sequence where I can see this kind of paint app and the portraits general look/expression…

And my findings?

I couldn’t. Maaaaybe this??

Even this is a stretch.

IMO, the paint looks bad. So splotchy. Pockmark heaven. One look at it and I’m reaching out to grab the neutrogena or my wife’s foundation to cover up the pores. As for the overall sculpt. Like I said, it’s not bad. In fact I’d say it looks good. And IMO, it could compliment the other jokers a collector has amassed over the years.

However, it looks like the romanticized version of ledger. It’s too…”handsome”-for lack of a better description. I mean, Heath was a good looking man…but this is the Joker.

you can’t deny that in terms of sculpt, likeness, overall ‘swollen’ griminess of the prosthetics and makeup…InArt does come the closest.

But, if one still prefers the HT sculpt, that’s completely fine. I just don’t see how it ‘outclasses’ InArts.

The skin texture on inart is better hot toys over did it but I gotta say we've come far in this hobby. If you look back 5 years ago rooted meant Barbie hair unless it was custom.

Now we've got licensed companies, 3rd party giving us some incredible stuff!

Truth is everyone has their own take on Ledger Joker and there will never be a perfect one because of everyone having preferences. However we have some dam good ones!

Suppose it depends if you're willing to acknowledge the upsides to the HT sculpt, even if you prefer the IA one.

I think front and center the most striking observation is how close together the eyes are on the IA sculpt. Putting it against the HT and the stills makes that even more evident than we all admitted originally.

For what it's worth, I own the IA one. It's not like I didn't get it and am dogging on those who did.

Im in the camp that thinks the InArt joker is pretty ***** where it counts: the sculpt and the coat. I like everything else about it. I just don't see Ledger from most angles and I absolutely hate the bathrobe hes wearing. Im typically an InArt defender btw, I even LOVED their Joker at first, but I just don't like it anymore.

Based off what we’ve seen so far with the comparisons…I think HT sculpt is a tad larger than IA’s…

Been planning on it for a long time. Though Joker is not a priority for me personally, and customs are too much $$$ while im focusing on other stuff. Once ive settled down with my collection and have most everything Id want, then the customizing starts.
