Yeah I think so too, it's impressive how it doesn't need specific lighting to look really good! (sorry I deleted my other post you might've been replying to lol)I'm guessing they look great in hand. Which is all that matters... except for those who like taking macro pictures of their dolls.
This was extremely helpful! Wish I saw it before tackling my set. I struggled more than I thought I would/should on getting those heads on. My biggest gripe with this set.Yea sorta what happened to me. I would suggest, wait to open until you actually have time to open and really take it all in. When I first opened, I was just quickly going through things to make sure nothing was broken or missing and it sorta took away from the whole thing as I had to ge track to work.
It wasn’t until later in the evening when I posted my second set of thoughts, that I actually had time to really go through it all and really appreciate the craftsmanship
It’s really no different than redressing any other suited figure to be honest. Just gotta take your time and use tweezers. As I mentioned previously, the tie has a buckle on the loop that hides under the collar that you’ll adjust to loosen or tighten. Not difficult at all, just need to be patient.
Others may have alternate methods but here’s what I did:
-removed purple coat, sports coat and vest. I didn’t remove the shirt or pants
-lift up shirt collar to remove tie
-loosen tie with the aforementioned buckle, then put back over shirt collar with shirt collar still flipped upward
-put the head on with shirt collar still flipped upward. Lightly hold the head in place as you tug on the collar to get it out of the way of the neck connector so that you’ll get full contact.
-tighten the tie as much as you’d like to get the collar to close at the front. Take your time as it will be tricky with the rooted hair
-flip shirt collar back down and futz accordingly until the collar and tie look right
-put green vest back in but don’t close it just yet.
-put sports coat on and make sure shirt sleeves make it down the coat sleeves. This might be a little tough, but just use your tweezers and take your time
-purple cost goes on pretty easily and you’ll see by doing so, the more square look just sort of naturally happens.
-once you have all the layers on, close up the green vest and make sure you have the collar points down, touching or just under the front edge of the vest.
-lastly, futz with the sports coat so it sits right between the vest and purple coat.
Thanks man. Here's my quick thoughts on the set:Rzez! Great visual review. But what are your thoughts?
They do indeed look great in hand. And he holds up perfectly well when I do my macro shots too. He's, no doubt, bound to be one of my favorite figures to photograph precisely because he looks so good in any lighting and at any angle. Plus, it's just a damn fun figure and really pops in a collection.I'm guessing they look great in hand. Which is all that matters... except for those who like taking macro pictures of their dolls.
I recall that the knife initially was diecast- along with all the weapons- but WB/DC requested it be revised to plastic. Thanks man. Here's my quick thoughts on the set:
CONS
-My biggest complaint is getting these sculpts on the bodies. With the suit and tie so tightly assembled, you are going to have trouble getting the neck into the collar without some tweezers or tool. And to be careful not to push down on the tie ect. This is my biggest gripe with this set. I spent the majority of my night messing around with this to get them on. Trying to take care not to damage the hair or remove any of it. Luckily I succeeded. Which brings me to my second nit....
-Hair. LOTS of product in it giving it a slight tacky feel to the touch. And it holds the hair great. No issues there, so for those that are worried about having to play with and futz "dolly hair" its not much of an issue. My issue is I DO like to futz with dolly hair to pose it and get it how I want it. This is work since its so well held together. My personal nit.
-The Eyes. While I still consider having movable eyes a perk in this hobby, my nit lies with the fact that I couldn't move the eyes are FAR as I would prefer to pose them. I wish there was a bit more range with the eyes moving side to side. Up and down are fine, just want a more side eyed look.
-Shoes. Sculpted shoes. I'm not a fan of sculpted shoes. I prefer soft goods as often as possible. Even with the shoes. Sculpted shoes do not impress me. And at this price point I feel these shoes should be quality soft goods materials. Or at the very least, real laces. They didnt even go that far. With price going up the nit picks are hard.
-While posing the Jail Scene Joker the sculpted forearms would like to come out more than I feel they should. So with that I think those magnets should be stronger. Same with the magnets in the gloved hands, though I never had any issues with the gloved hands falling out.
-Jail Scene Joker Sculpt: The hair is pretty unruly due to the product. The make up I feel should be more messed up and less caked on as it is to that specific scene.
-Knife, Not sure why they decided to do diecast fore the grenades, machine gun and the pistol, but not for the knife.
PROS
-The tailoring is impeccable. The weathering is light, but noticeable (I will add a bit more to my liking). I haven't been wowed like this in tailoring outside of custom so I'm really happy there. I hope this trend continues and they don't start to get sloppy like HT has in the past. The attention to detail in the suits and coat are great. I love the grenade rig and the small stitches found within. And the different color leather straps for the grenades is a nice touch.
-Speaking of attention to detail, the added make up in the hair is nice addition as well.
-The magnetic base. Love it. This is the future for displaying a more museum-like display for your 1:6. Im hearing people complain that it doesnt hold the figure...No issues here for me. They are strong. The ankles are strong and it works and looks beautiful. This isnt my first figure with a magnetic base, but I really wish they were all like this now. Again, Love it.
-Of the two Portraits my favorite is the serious "Purple Jacket" sculpt. Its the stronger of the two for likeness for me, but I do like the "Jail Cell" version with the personality/smirk so they both are winners in my book.
-Both the cards and the stacks of money look perfectly scaled and have realism. Glad they didnt cheap out and only print the money on one side. These are full 1:6 replicated stacks of money.
-The diorama is epic and is HUGE! As some have said it CAN fit in a detolf, but only just barely. You need to position the jail piece behind the glass shelf that is above it. Its heavy and diecast so Id recommend displaying it on the bottom of the detolf if you decide to go that route.
Overall, InArt is coming out very strong with this introductory piece to their 1:6 line, but with a few hiccups that I hope they can sort out as the line matures. This is a solid 9/10 set. But could have been a 10/10 with a few tweaks and pushing just that little bit further on the quality of a few parts of this set.
Unfortunately, still making space for it. My quick one stop drop to sell most of my collection didn’t work out so now it’s the old slow eBay/Mercari way of things.Sounds like you know exactly what your doing. Hope you can share pictures of your final set up
Thanks! But, I agree that getting the heads on was the most frustrating part of this set for sure. Even with my slow and steady approach, I felt like it took foreverThis was extremely helpful! Wish I saw it before tackling my set. I struggled more than I thought I would/should on getting those heads on. My biggest gripe with this set.
Yea that would be one of my cons with the set too. More smear with more skin showing through the white would’ve been greatYeah, looking from afar, the one thing I do notice in the Con column is too much white-face on the jail Joker. And I'd like more smear in the make up and that right eye.
