Man, this really puts into perspective the hasty TDK reissues Hot Toys has announced over the last year. Especially that embarrassing Begins reissue and the unchanged QS019.

I suspected they just wanted to get as many POs as possible before they lost the license. I feel this all but confirms they’ve known for some time WB was going to open the gates.

Can't tell you how happy I am that other top notch companies are entering the 1/6 market. Hot Toys has gotten lazy for many years now and hopfully they step it up again from both a quality and price point perspective.

My dilemma now do you wait for all three (HT, QS, JND) to reveal theirs and decide before you pre-order? Especially that distributors have a preorder deadline for us living outside the US.

There will be a PO deadline for most collectors if these 1/6 QS and JND pieces are just like their large scale items, especially since Queen doesn't have distribution rights in the US as far as we know. So it's be pretty much an equal playing field for most. Everyone will have to find a place that sells Queen/JND products and hope they're a reliable place to order from.

These figures might also not even be so limited. Their high end statues having a limited edition size doesn't have anything to do with how their 1/6 figure will fair. They do 1/1 scale, 1/3 scale statues so of course those aren't gonna be massed produced in huge numbers, no statue company does in that scale.
It's completely different when they get to producing 1/6 scale figures. They can mass produce these to much greater quantity. It's too early to tell but I don't see them doing 300 edition sizes or anything that low at all.

I’m happy to be proven wrong but at this time limited runs in specific markets seems like Queen Studio’s way of doing business. I get what you’re saying about larger items being its own limiting factor, but when getting into the “Artist Edition” variants with super-intricate rooted hair, even at sixth-scale the sheer man-hours required to produce something like that may necessitate they be limited to a few-hundred. Could do a much larger run of the sculpted hair variants though, as it indicates from their two shared images they’ll also be doing.

That’s a really good looking Joker, I always felt the face on the DX11 was a big off. I just hope final production paint will be a bit like the previews. I don’t own any queen studios, but this looks great. Seems like more companies are stepping into the 1/6 world ready to compete with Hot Toys, Aug toys with Dune, and now these guys. Just hope the prices don’t go too high. Even Damtoys’ Wandering Earth figures are pretty steep in price. But it’s good overal for the 1/6 world to have more players. Maybe this will motivate Enterbay and Blitzway to release more consistently. Really looking forward to see this production version.

If any Queen 1/6th figure is going to be good, it will be their initial 1/6th offering to prove themselves.

This will be the 1/6th Ledger Joker to have.

One of Queens first 1/4 statues which wasn’t released that long ago was the CW Spidey, and in person the headsculpt on that is just so much better than Hot Toys 1/4 scale.

I have both and while neither have rooted hair, both sculpts are somewhat similar (Queens is better, but I still like HT). BUT the paint on Queens just seems so much more lifelike and takes it to another level. While Hot Toys has their usual paint which is sort of dead looking in comparison.

Same here. After having missed out on the original HT Jokers I feel like this is my chance to get a really legit one.

I’m pleasantly surprised to see very level headed responses here. As well as acknowledging HT complacency resulting in their figures not pushing the medium forward like they used to.

Their Battinson reveal was surprising (by batman 1.0 standards) because they’ve actually accomplished a few things I’ve wanted them to do for a long time:

Offering different tiers for the consumer!

A sub $280 standard release (not using SSC to gauge prices since their taxes are unreal) that comes with a Bruce Wayne sculpt RIGHT OUT THE GATE. Also, this figure is a DX without the DX moniker.

When it was revealed, I was like “this is very uncharacteristic of HT...did something happen? Did someone at the company finally get a conscience?”.

Then I saw tease from QS/IA.

And I went ohhhhh, so all it had to take for HT to step their game up was for another company to dip their toes in the officially licensed water.

I’m glad they have competition now. It means better products for us. In the end we all win.

Now we just need the Batman Returns license to be handed out so we can finally get a Pfeiffer Catwoman and Devito Penguin.

These are the silicone glass eyes and dentures crowd, if they wanted to cause a sensation why not come out the gates with a seemless hulk with all the bells and whistles , something that can really show what they can do thats out of the capabilities of even hot toys, the joker is nice but a bit blahh

I’m excited about the competition too. The last time Hot Toys had competition we got the QS001 which IMO is still their best and most complete figure.

I agree that The Batman release seems it was designed with the knowledge they would have competition. It’s one of the most complete single releases they have made in the last decade. There are still things I think could be better though and I’m excited to potentially own and compare the different competing versions.

I’m still excited for the DX19/QS019 and any improvements they may have but would gladly buy a superior competitor if their rerelease is a harbinger of more competition.

The only person I feel bad for in all of this is Asmus who I feel was really trying their hardest but just couldn’t quite get to definitive status. Unfortunately despite their hard work I feel they won’t be able to keep up with any serious competition. Maybe they can focus on soldier and orc characters and let the competition tackle the difficult human likenesses.

Regardless, this is the most exciting this hobby has been since I started collecting a couple years ago.
