So obviously the likeness is there for Ford, it just the paint that is throwing it off. You guys think?
I had a go at repainting the head. It's a tricky one to get the skin right on. The first thing it needs is some red washes, he is waay too tan/brown. Let me know what you think...These are WIP pics, out of sequence..
I will post some more details later guys. I have a two year old looking for my attention!
I mixed a skin coat, yellow/white/red/brown close to the original. I gave it a wash base, barely noticeable. Then I added red washes to the cheek bones, nose etc. then I added dark brown washes to the shadowy areas. My biggest problem with this head was it looked a bit plasticy, this helps that. Then I added sweat, use acrylic varnish. You need to be careful with that. A little gives it skin tone a lot looks like he is wet.
Thanks for that, very helpful. I might get the balls to give it a go.
I'd definitely like to see more pics when you can in brighter lighting.
yeah, it's dark here at the moment. I will take some in daylight tomorrow.
I'm painting the body now.
So would you say you're a well-versed painter...or average? No offense but I'm trying to gage where I would fall based on your ability and if I'm biting off more than I can chew if I try this.
