I just want to share my repaint of the Sideshow sculpt. I think it is a great sculpt. The smiling head looks quite good to me and would love to find one if it is available.

Here is my repaint of the Sideshow Indy head.

The paintjob on the smiling sculpt looks great. It's just the scuplt doesn't look like Ford. It looks more like a young Dennis Quaid. Hat sits a little to high on his head, elongating the shape of the face. Still can't see enough of Ford in the SS sculpt, and I have seen it repainted by some of the best in the business. The prototype sculpt "might" have been perfection, but what came out of the factory was not good at all.

Thank you for your kind words Stshammgod, dsokyra and Figure 5901!

Rogerbee, thank you for the tip. I will contact them for the head. I think it looks pretty good and would love to try and paint one up.

Dsokyra, I haven't yet because I don't own one. I am looking to get one though, but can't afford one until another paycheck or two. The one I painted of the Sideshow Indy was a commission I got from a friend. Unfortunately I missed that figure too and it's pretty expensive on Ebay. I've bought some parts to try and customize my own. That's why I was hoping to get that WilliamShatnersToupee head for a custom.

Before you dismiss the WGP sculpts altogether check out the actual thread for the heads, there are more in hand pics emerging and they look a lot better than that particular pic made it look.

Cool,

Hope you get one.

Oh I have seen them, thus my comment above. Most of the digital prints I see offered on here seem too elongated from top to bottom and too narrow from side to side. These Indy's, the Aliens Bishop and the digital Daniel Craig all suffered from this. I'm sticking to supporting traditional sculptors for the time being.

In certain photos, yes, I would agree with you, the paint-ups by Salvador do show quite a degree of lens distortion, there are other pics of the Trad on there and they look as the originals did.

I have the Daniel Craig in hand and it looks fine to me. As for the Bishop, well, he does have too high a forehead, that much is evident whichever photo you see him in.

We judge too much by photos, not every body has Luka's skills. I wait until I see in hand pics from everybody, not just the pros, and if I still like what I see then I go for it.

Honestly, I have my traditional sculpt and had to shave the chin down. It was way to long. Looks 100% better, will be painting it this week. I'm not sure if they just used the smiling sculpt for the trad and didn't adjust the chin or what but it does need adjusted

Pictures added: You can see what I mean with the chin and how I shaved mine down. I also dropped the fedora while painting and cracked the back of the brim off. I ended up super glueing, magic sculpt and paint to fix it. I may change the paint app and I still have to weather the fedora with some dust and dirt but I'm fairly happy with the result. What do you guys think?

Well the more I've had time to look at the WGP sculpt the more I've come to the conclusion that it is too small for the HT Indy body. The face is to thin for Ford in Raiders and while the sculpt is taller than the HT one it's also thinner. As for the sculpting on the features, they are top notch, no mistaking who the sculpt is. That being said I held it next to my Trev Sideshow version and I have to say other than the fedora crown being to short on SS version and WGP being thinner than it should without the hat the features look almost identical. WGP is a great version and I'm glad to have it but I think I'm also gonna go back and repaint the SS version one last time to compare them together.
