Yep, that's my feeling... a smirk is more representative than a full on smile.

Having said that if I was in the practice of having multiples this would be a no-brainer.

I like the smirk idea. Full on smile just doesnt scream Docta Jones to me. :dunno

I really like the sculpt, but I have to agree. Even the "trust me" line that some are equating this sculpt to is more representative of a smirk than the smile featured here.

You don't think this is a worthwhile paint up?

Calm down, I was referring to the Traditional sculpt. Which is what I have.

:lol

Now that you mention it....

I was thinking high school picture. This is the inherent problem with the smiling sculpt for me. It really doesn't capture the character, even though he does smile a lot. But his essence is pure rugged adventurer and that smile just isn't something that should be permanent. Makes him seem impish.

That said, its a terrific paint job.

Yeah, my problem with is it would limit my posing for display. That's why I'm not too big on scene specific sculpts such laughing or other extreme expressions. I guess that's why I was the only one not demanding a laughing Joker sculpt before we knew what the 2.0 was. Although I am glad we have it as a secondary head.

Both the WGP heads seem to lose a little likeness with painting - maybe it's just the paint-ups seen so far despite them being pretty good, esp the smiling.

This current head paint-up has a slight Sacha Baron Cohen/Adam Sandler vibe to me, not sure why - maybe it's the sideways eyes. It still looks great but I agree it's a bit of a niche look, though several posters from 1981 had a smiling look, even if it doesn't exactly capture a movie scene.

Really looking forward to seeing more paint-ups of the WGP heads. It's still early days with them.

The picture makes the face look too long, but that could be a combination of paint, camera angle and any number of reasons.

I laughed! I think the eyes looking forward will look better than to the side.
