i am SO stuck!! I have the inigou v1... the MJ... the SS TOD... I don't mind having multiple Indy figs... HAPPY with it, in fact, but... I have the clothing set from Yunsil... and an HT Han Solo body... and Mfisher gear... and I want ONE of my Indys to be THE Indy... so... help?!?!?

I know what you mean -- I have a few heads myself and lots of pieces too... and still trying to sort out the BEST parts for my ULTIMATE INDY.

Ironically, for 16 years I couldn't get close to putting together a truly great Indy.... NOW there's almost too many choices. :lol

And parts I used to think were great -- like the HT pants for example -- I'm now re-looking at and thinking Indy's Raiders pants were a bit darker. But if I do that, then the shirt will look too light.... it goes on and on. :slap

Three heads are better than one!!

This will soon be THE Indy head to have! Inigou V2.

Yeah, but those harsh top-light pics always seem to help sculpts. HT Han looked way better with a harsh top light.

The V2 I've waited on because you really have to see a few paint-ups before you can really judge.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 1/6 Indy.:lol

With the hero's likeness pretty near impossible to capture and the color of the clothing hard to pinpoint, plus lots of intricate leatherwork (holster/belt, whip, boots, jacket...) that's very, very hard to replicate in 1/6, and you have a recipe for collector disaster.:gah:

oh I'm not NEW to it... been trying since the release of the Toys McCoy!!

ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Eww... hope you didn't pay full price for that back then. It's funny how it was THE ultimate Indy collectable but now looks like the GI Joe Indy.:lol

full price indeed!! I think it was $425!! can you imagine?!? I know he's certainly dated... but I love him none the less!!!

It's incredible how opinions and expectations have changed since 1999.

This was a 4/4 scored figure back then:

It was one of the figures I saw by chance on the net that got me into 1/6 in a serious way, and was itself a grail figure for several years. Then I was wowed by Sideshow's much cheaper £49.99 ROTLA.

Prior to 1999 my benchmark had been my 60s-80s Action Man/GI Joe, though I also had the original 12" Star Wars; a few 12" Star Trek: The Motion Picture and a vintage 12" Cylon.

Then the 90s Kenner 12" came out, and were hit or miss.

But 1999 was a turning point: not just noticing Toys McCoy, but Dragon (DML), and I realised that there was a new world of very detailed figures out there. I went crazy with Dragons, but they were relatively so cheap. Then I was drawn into Sideshow's Star Wars, which, like Kenner, were hit and miss.

It's hard to believe where we are with detail and expectations now, though they come at a price.

Yeah the Toys McCoy Indy was the first 1/6 figure I can remember really wanting as well. I wasn't bothered at all by the lack of detail or the poor likeness back then, and didn't even think that was something that mattered. All I cared was that it was the coolest looking Indy figure I had ever seen at that point, and came with a great outfit and lots of cool accessories to play with.

I don't think I even noticed the huge zip on his jacket back then. But that was also a thing with Dragon and BBI figures.

It seems it's only when a company steps up and shows you what's possible to do in the scale that we move on and set a new benchmark.

It's like the Monolith in 2001 showing us the future and leading us ever closer towards perfection...and insanity!

"I like this sculpt much better than the Sideshow one.":rotfl

But the TM Indy was mostly about presentation. It came in a great box, and it had an optional little pony too which was cool.

My friend bought it over (I think he paid around $700 for it!) and I loved it but I really wasn't into Indy collectibles or 1/6 at that time :)horror.)

When you quoted from the review I went and checked the date on it: 2009.

So it was still regarded (by somebody) as a 4/4 ten years after its release.

How quickly things have advanced! :lol

All I really wanted to do was an Indy that I could call mine. Even in 2005 when I first started, everyone was like "Use this head!" or "Use that jacket!". If I had then my Indy would have looked like THEIRS and I wanted MINE. This has continued right till now and I finally have MY Indy and I'm happy with him, and precisely because I went with what I wanted for him. If you do an Indy to appease the masses then he'll never be good enough because there will always be something else that they want you to have. Do it for you, use what you want!

What annoyed me the most about the sculpt was the black dead eyes so I took a shot at repainting them. I feel it removes the GeorgeBushiness of the factory version

It definitely helps. I don't think I can ever unsee the "George Bush" in it.

Yeah, it does look better. I didn't bother on mine as the rest was too nice a paint job to screw up and I tend not to look at them too closely now he's standing in my collection.
