Not sure whos doing what yet. for the shirt I was thinking a wolverine shirt and german Indy pants (much like Marfs) because they seem to look the best.

Truetype advance is awfully buff. He's certainly going to be flattered either way, but Nathon was not even close to being that muscular.
I recommend the standard narrow shoulder TrueType that comes with the Taylor Kitsch headsculpt. Another nice option is the SSC Prometheus 1.2 which is nice and tall and has adequate detail on the arms. the Prometheus 1.2 is $14 from Toy Anxiety today as they have a sale.

Wow this thread is awesome! I wish I could help. The only thing I can suggest is that whatever shirt you get, it may need to be dyed. Plus, there were many different shirts he wore, so you'd have to pick one that is his most iconic. I'm not sure which one that would be though.

And if you make those boots, please cast them! I'm sure many people would love to own a pair!

I agree, Prog. I think the narrow shouldered TrueTypes look best, but that's just my opinion. Once he's outfitted it seems to balance out the oversized head some.

Great to hear about the boots, Entropy! I can definitely sculpt and cast some, then, eventually.

This is a fantastic idea, I can't wait to see how it turns out! I also love that NF wants a 1/6 figure of the character :hi5:

My bash is obviously not at the level of detail you guys are shooting for Nathan's (in fact I would love to get my hands on a pair of accurate boots should they come of this project) but I have a couple tips that might prove helpful.

First, if you go with Chad's duster, a bit of "weathering" helps it a lot. I rubbed neutral shoe polish into the fabric, used brown dye on the cuffs, then did some spot dying on the seams.

For the shirt, I'm really fond of the HT wolverine I used, and with some buttons sewn on it looks great. It's made of a material that hangs really well and looks natural.

For the body I would definitely go with a regular TT or advanced. The shoulders are a bit broad for Nathan, but I think they offset the slightly oversized sculpt perfectly.

For the pants, I like the way the SS German Indy pants fit, but the pockets on them are inaccurate (although inconspicuous), and dyed brown iron-on stripes are applied easily enough.

My last suggestion would be to pad (or sculpt) the body. I padded mine around the torso and legs till it looked right to me.

marf master! that is awesome! so, is this new version you guys are working on going to be for mass production at some point? i would KILL for any type of firefly sideshow items that had accurate likeness.

To be honest, I LOVE your Mal, Marf, and I think shooting for your level is perfectly acceptable for this. I'm all for pushing even further, as well, but Adam and I had always just intended to bash something together. You guys have done incredible work on your Mal figures.

If you want, I could make a Serenity style door back ground with an attachment for the base and donate it to the cause.

Man I wish I could contribute something to this!!!

Great idea guys. Can't wait to see him Tweet about it. ;)

Wow, Anzik. That would be something, allright! I'm all for it if you would like to contribute. This could be even more special than I imagined!

Cadaver- sure thing, man! I appreciate it. Just let me know how much.

Thanks Trevor! As I've said before, a compliment from you means a lot :)

No deadline, Anzik! I've wanted to do this for a year, so there is no rush.

Wofford-Ha! I'd really love to sculpt your Plainview. It's been on my mind lately, so we'll make that a reality as soon as time allows.
