Something like this

Yeah, that looks good--costs for electronics to have a flickering light for the logo and have a wall socket (adapter type, so you would plug in the adapter in a socket in the back of the base) would be like $60 total. The chip for flickering is $30, the adapter is $25 and for the white lights for the back is like $5, so if that's too expensive we could reduce cost by getting rid of the flicker chip

That's awesome! Where did you get that solid model from?

It's a 3D computer model I made--it's part of a project to build the whole ship--right now I've done the exterior (as seen in my sig) and the shuttles, and I've started working on building the interior. About 2/3 done with the bridge--but it's got a lot of stuff there

Man, if you guys feel like you can make a base like that, than I'm ALL for it. I'll compensate the work and material costs. I really love the mockup.

I doubt if we'll be able to get this ready in time for Christmas, as cool as that would be. I think the holster rig will take some time to get, according to Old Grandpa.

You guys are amazing! Thanks for trying to keep things organized, Cadaver202

What scale?

I can make a solid base but the electronics are beyond me.

Yeah, I can totally do the electronics, so I can order those parts and put them together and then send it to you, you'd just have to have some type of clear diffuse material to put under the grating part and behind the Firefly logo, it's easy enough to then attach the LED's behind that with hot glue, then you would drill two holes in the back for the switch and the power adapter port.

What scale?
It's in the computer, so it can be any scale

Nice work DV.. what program is that done in? with a the organic cabling, I'm leaning towards Maya?

3ds Max---cables and pipes are much much easier to do in 3ds Max than other programs--in Max, you just make a spline and then you can set it to be actual geometry with a set thickness and however many sides you want, but in other programs you make the spline and then a circle which you use the spline as a path to extrude the circle, but you can't adjust the path after you do it---really good feature for Max

Viper, How about if I build the base, send it to you, you add the lights and then send it to Trev or Surfer?

I can do that too

Would you be able to put a diffuse material though for the light areas?

The base just needs like at least 1/2 inch inside to have enough room for the parts

The List
Head- Trev, painted by SS

Boots- Trev
Pants-cadaver202
Shirt-Cadaver202
Suspenders-cadaver202

What I generally use is a translucent plastic sheet. As long as the lights don't get too hot it should be fine.

I'm in for the gun rig for sure. Stevo says 4 weeks on the gun rig and I have a wide belt already. What body did you all decide on, TT narrow or TT standard. I can supply the body, I have both bodies on hand. Is Chad doing the clasps for the coat or do you want a set like I built for Marf? No problem, I have the material already. Where do we send this stuff? Is SS putting this whole thing together? Need an adddress.

Yeah, the LED's are very efficient so that won't be an issue--it just needs to be a material where it wouldn't be easy to see the shape of whatever's behind it but still be able to transport light--like frosted glass

The List
Silentsurfer, are you going to weather the jacket and all that? We should add the damage Repair to the left arm of the jacket.

My fabirc weathering experience limited. I'm sure I can nail it, but I'd love to see somebody with more clothing experience do it. I'm all for letting Marf weather and wire the coat.

I"ll stick to any and all repaints for my part in this unless somebody really wants to help out.

Does the base need painting, or are you on that Anzik?

D-Viper, that 3-D bridge is insane. I'd love to see that output in 1/6. If you did that, I'd have to build up all my Trevor heads into figures.

Everybody, thank you all so much for all the expertise, advice, and help with this. I knew this forum had the people with the resources for this project, but this is above and beyond my expectations. You guys are amazing.

Epic on 3.

1...2...3...

Epic!!!
