Welp... understandable now why there are not any pictures of the figure online.

Some may see this as a bait-and-switch. It certainly is that. The drop off from the proto is well beyond what many would accept as normal. No skirting the issues here -- lots of work to do to get this looking like what was promised.

Disappointment aside, you do get everything you need to make a solid Wez. Likely never going to see this offered as a figure in 1/6th again.

Height-wise, the figure is good. See last picture below.

The Review:

So first, the head -- BEST part of the piece, thankfully.

The feathers are going to be tough -- they have very sturdy quills so you can't just get them wet and flatten them down. It will take "un-plucking" them and replacing them where they should be. There are plenty of feathers to toy with though.

The shoulder pads need reworking -- or hide that inaccuracy with the feathers.

The pads, gauntlets and shins guards are all a fairly soft rubbery material. They will take on a better shape once the working straps are tightened.

The body gear is also weathered, very dusty looking, which is nice. But it desperately needs some highlighting.

The only hard piece of plastic is the arrow-gauntlet. But that's good.

The body is clearly the worst offender here. It does look like an S&M Ken doll.

The pants are too tight on slim legs. I think some stretching will help give it more lived-in look.

Working straps in the back mean we can fatten his torso up quite a bit too.

Real metal gun, nice knife and 5x arrows make up the loose gear. There's also a chain of some length -- mine came loose in the box but I believe there's a circular space for it in the box.

All in all, it will be a lot of work, but I believe I can get a great Wez figure out of this piece. I hope someone will make a new chest pad with the higher shoulders to replace what's here. Everything else I think can be made to work.

The biggest FIX is a new body. That will solve 70% of the problems with the way the figure looks currently.

Great review, Wor-Gar.

The figure definitely is a disappointment. The Prototype photos really are quite different from what was shipped.

I agree that the body is the biggest disappointment. It really does look like they used a cheap "Ken" doll body. I just hope that once we find a good replacement body, the outfit will fit without too much trouble.

I think that this thread is going to end up being another "How to improve this figure" thread.

Mine is still waiting to leave China. Unfortunately, I'm no longer looking forward to receiving it... :dunno

This is much like the Furiosa (or Proxima Midnight) problem -- where a new body really improved the figure. However, in those cases the head was still way too small.

At least here, the head will welcome a new body. The clothing parts/gear is simplified but usable. Taking the entire figure apart will make it easier to weather parts and fix those damn feathers.

Once reassembled on a new body, I think we'll have a whole new figure here. And a good one to boot.

Thanks for that info Wor-Gar! Much appreciated.
I can't believe how little research they did on the shoulder pads, there mustn't have been any beyond watching the movie all of once.

That 'vest' for want of a better term is not even close; but I still think I can unpick that top seam and then add the proper shoulder pads. At least the plates to go on top look like they'll be serviceable.

The feathers will probably benefit from some manipulation from a hair dryer or heat gun, being spindly they should react pretty quickly, but I'm thinking I'll probably replace them with real feathers for a closer effect if I'm going all in. They really went overboard with the feathers to try and make up the height lost from the shoulder pads from the look of it... especially compared to the original costume.

Hahah, almost tempted to make a fake vintage Ken doll box for Wez: Barbie's New Stalker!.
Plonk him in there as is and be done!

Thanks!

I will be very interested to see what you do for your extended shoulder bits. The parts are there on this Wez -- just need to extend the shoulders up higher to make that T-shape.

The feathers are weird -- they have been cut to appear thin, but they were clearly larger feathers because the quills on many of them are so thick, and they want to stand straight up. He needs like only half as many, so I might just toss out the stiff ones, keep the soft, pliable ones. Fortunately, too many feathers is better than too few.

Congratulations on receving him Wor-Gar! Head sculpt looks great. I'm sure the overall figure can be enhanced immeasurably with time and patience.

Looking at the way the arms stick out it looks like the same weird body they used for Max, though he only had one of those style arms. Carving away the rubber torso helped, but swapping the body to a more appropriate one was better anyway.

A body swap is definitely on the cards for Wez.

The torso joint isn't under the shirt where I thought it would be...

...which means that Premier had no valid excuse to make the shirt so long.

Mine is also stuck in ShaTian,DongGuan since 3/11

Kit explained the hiccup in the tracking.

There was an issue with this consignment of figures: they detected metal in the shape of a gun inside the packages, so they stopped them.

That explains why Wez appeared to go back into the system to start the process again three days later.

Premier had no valid excuse for the tshirt full stop.

It's just a misread of the costume. If you look at the image of Wez from the back I posted above there's nothing underneath the shoulder pads. They read the shoulder pad inner layer as a seperate shirt, not a part of it.

It's a shame how little effort was put into the accuracy of these elements.. why bother getting such a great headsculpt when you're just getting vague approximations of other pieces? So many odd decisions based on it being such a niche figure, it has to have been a passion project for someone, but it's so half arsed in many respects (the chaps, intentionally, thankfully).

On taking a closer look at the photos I posted of the real Wez, the shirt is missing completely from all but one.

This is the only one that shows what could be the bottom edge showing:

When I swap the body, which has more realistic skin and musculature, I'll leave the shirt off.

The Mad Max collection at the moment is all Fury Road apart from Premier's Mel Max, so Wez will be with Immortan Joe and Furiosa. Hence accuracy to Mad Max 2 (e.g., shoulder pads) isn't going to be critical.
