He was a member, thought he left after everyone started seeing his videos.. Dunno

The issue I have with him is the same issue I have with my uncle.

I get that it's your money, you can do what you want with it, but it can get quite ridiculous..
For example, my uncle just bought 4 Alien models: $320 Derelict, $350Nostromo, (not sure of the price he paid for these two..) Narcissus, Space Jockey. He put them all together with hot glue. Smeared the hot glue all over them, and laid them upon his dusty shelf to rot with his broken swords/knight helmets and Star Wars/Trek models.

Of course I had to ask permission to hold the Derelict, wouldn't want it to get damaged.. :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:lol
But anyway, while holding it and crying a little inside, I said "Hey, you should really get this painted..".
His response was "It's supposed to be grey".

So uh, yeah.

IMO it's like some rich guy buying the Mona Lisa and destroying it, but you can't say anything about it because it's hhhiiiisssss mooonnnneeeyyyyy.............. :slap

You have drawn a false conclusion here.

When he buys figures he can do whatever he pleases with them, none of them are one offs. The Mona Lisa is unique. Sure you can level that very same accusation to any number of customisers on these very boards, or to those who break figures up to sell parts.

i really wish he wouldn't do this crap with figures that have such low production numbers. there are always other collectors who would be happy to have those figures he's destroying. this clown should find another hobby, or at least do it with wrestling toys from walmart.

I totally understand that the Mona Lisa is far more rare/valuable.. I was exaggerating to make a point.

I also understand that he can do whatever he wants with them, it's his legal right. He bought them. But what he's doing to them is moraly wrong, whether he knows it or not. And I'm not a fan of that.
And, this might be a little douchey but.. If somone is stupid enough to destroy their high-end, expensive figures and think they are making them better, I'm not a fan of them either.

My point exactly...

Morally wrong? That's a massive stretch, and completely disingenuous. I'm not going to go into the philosophy of why it's not morally wrong, this is not the forum for such discussion.

No, you're drawn the false conclusions. What you do with your property in the privacy of your own home is your business, but when you stream it for the world to see then you're making it their business. By your definition, I can slather pictures of hard core sexual acts all over my house, because it's my property. But, when I display things of that nature for the public to see, then it becomes the public's business because they can see it. I could also do jumping jacks in my living room butt-naked, but when I open my curtains for the neighbor kids to be able to see it, then I will face severe legal repercussions.

Yes, those are extreme examples, but my point is that property is a physical value, that when displayed in view of the public, is held to certain visual standards of a legal and morale nature. And let's face it, this guy is destroying some sought after collectibles some other people would pay good money for and cherish.

But, I can see what you originally meant about some uncalled for comments and accusations people post about him. But like I also said earlier, if you post videos for the world to see, be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. And I don't care, that parody video was freaking hilarious :lol That dude had him down to the tee!!

Wait ....... autobotjohn, is that you? Why, you sly son of a gun, you had me there for a minute :lol

Extreme examples indeed, there is a world of difference between customising action figures and the acts you describe.

You appear to be under the impression that I am of the opinion that we should not comment on what he's doing, however I have no problem with that whatsoever. It's the fact that much of this thread is verging on what I would describe as bullying that I have a massive issue with.

That was part two.

It doesn't matter if it's a hatchling or a 6 foot 300 lb mutant, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck. There are no extremes.

It might be a duck, but if it is, it's one that customises figures, not one with walls adorned with hardcore pornography and exposing itself at a window.

If I do actually do those things, you'll never know, because I don't post videos of it on youtube for the world to see.

Just enjoy a good laugh, or STFU. The guy is probably just funning with everyone anyways :pfft:

autobotjohn was a member of this board right? he got banned for scamming a fellow freak?

I thought he sent Predator vs. Alien a busted up Hot Toys T-600. If I recall he just threw it into a box loose with other figure boxes on top of it and the Predator vs. Alien guy started a thread about it. However, Predator Vs. Alien scammed somebody as well I believe, so perhaps he got what he deserved.
