Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Outstanding shots Sean, as always... And AWESOME repaint Mikey... That looks freakin phenomenal. I cannot wait to have mine now... :lol

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

You could make red robe Sith Palpy too, you know. Hint, hint... :)

Oh I plan too for my film stills, but I want to limit head swapping so I'm holding off on that until I can shoot all the shots I need for those stills, but it is coming.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

One thing I noticed about the Sidious figure -- he's missing his pants! :)

If you remember, when Yoda force-pushes him over his desk, he clearly has pants beneath his robe -- more like a black version of what Palpatine wears under his robes. I like the "little black dress" thing, but it's not accurate for sticklers.

Great Pics, MF! IMO, this sculpt lends itself better to ROTJ Palpy. In ROTS, he usually had a crazy facial expression and the SS sculpt is just too neutral.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Man, that robe looks great on him.... And makes me even sadder that we will have to wait a while for ROTJ Palpatine. :monkey2

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Man he does look better as a ROTJ Emperor... thats crazy! Nice work on that one :rock

I think the wire in the furry collar was a great idea... I have a feeling that material would not drape very well so having he wire means you can really mold it around whatever pose you choose. The more I look at them, the more I like them. Definitely some of the best we've seen from Sideshow!

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Having the Hasbro version of Sidious with no wire, wire in the fur area is a huge plus.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Fantastic pics, Maulfan! I cut away a bit of the lining in both heads to make headswapping a bit easier. It was a dangerous thing to do, I could have easily ended up with two heads that fall off of the bodies. But once I get Sid painted, I'll definitely do a few shots of him in Red Robes.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

these are amazing looking figures.. though I like palpatine more than the emperor... I think he needed a smirk or evil grin in the sculpt.. wish I had these!

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Sith Lord - are those unaltered pics of the heads? No paint retouching? If so, color me impressed...!

Nice pics, everyone!

With the exception of Anakin's lip color, I've never repainted my figures. Those shots of Palpatine and Sidious are exactly the way they came in the mail. All that is "unique" about them is the lighting and some slight adjustments in Photoshop (brightness, contrast, shadow/highlight levels, etc.). Nothing that really alters things too much.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Wow Maulfan! I love this one! Amazing!
Are you using the outfit from Hasbro's Palpatine Duopack (with Royal Guard)?
or the single one?
It looks great!
Didn't somebody mentioned it didn't work well?
It looks great to me! :emperor

It's from the individual Palpatine figure from Hasbro. It certainly isn't great, and I still hope to see SSC do it, but with some quick customizing it can look pretty decent. If you just took it off the Hasbro figure and put it on Sidious, even with water treatment, it's not going to look so great. I took some thread and stictch the 2 corners of the hood opening to the chest of the robe, and then I stitched 2 points in the back of the hood down to the shoulders to shape it as close to ROTJ as you can with the hood's design.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

One of my problems with the Hasbro figure's clothing is that light enters the material very easily. When I did my custom, I had to sew in a second layer inside the hood to keep the light out. Also, the hem at the bottom is far too short. The robe underneath is pretty good, although the sleeves are too short there, too.
