There is something a bit more snake like and more sublte about the original Bossk... I'm more than happy with the Sideshow figure, but it seems that overtime there has been an increased level of detail added to Bossk which looses a bit of his serpent appearance.

My pics are terrible but I wanted to join the party.

Yeah, the SCC Bossk seems to be following a trend in "reimagining" Bossk that has been going on for a while. The trend started around '04 with the GG mini bust - the Hasbro "open mouth" 3 3/4" and Unleashed figures released the same year (the inspiration for the excl SSC sculpt) did not have the newer detailing such as the new head shape, huge plates at the back of the head and "horns."

Still, the "new" Bossk is very cool looking, just not screen accurate to ESB. Here is Bossk (ROTJ - so head is not quite as rounded as in ESB) mask, Hasbro 12", GG Mini bust and SSC...

I think you nailed it.

Although I like the reimagined Bossk, honestly I'd have liked to see SideShow's sculpt looking like it just stepped off screen. Then again, I'm a total Star Wars purist.

It's not completely off or anything, but it is definitely a bit stylized. In a good way, at least.

Yeah, Bossk and me go way back. I like the "dated" version and though it was nice to see them add a tiny bit of orange around his eyes they still don't look like how they were on screen nor is the shape of his head.

Just looks like some other trandoshan. Nice looking figure but not worth picking up IMO.

This is one of the very few instances where I say movie accuracy be damned, this is an improvement imo, looking at those picks it seems ssc used the gg for reference and added more detail to a fudged imagined sculpt

I agree. The on screen head was seen for what 7 seconds total? We all saw what we wanted to see until VHS and then high def. the original looks bland and undeserving of a figure. The new sculpt is more along the lines of comic art and novel covers. Much cooler and more representative of the spirit of bossk. I don't think I'd like or pick up a screen accurate bossk figure. Way too boring.

Well, the Hasbro 12" one is probably closest to the onscreen version, but I agree the "reboot" is pretty damn cool - it just has a ton more detail and "reptile-ness."

That being said, it would have been cool to have had an ESB screen accurate head to go with the SSC set.

And if you judge a bounty hunter by actual screen time, Bossk is actually way ahead of any of the others except Boba. Dengar is not even really seen (in ESB that is, he is in ROTJ)!

FYI, the ESB and ROTJ (Bossk's in both the Palace and the Sail Barge) heads look slightly different - the ESB Bossk head is rounder/fatter, probably due to a different actor underneath.

Bossk is here! Just a quick shot before I hit the sack....

Pretty f'n cool...he will need some futzin' though...but I'm impressed!

You guys hit it on the head. I like this "new school" look which is part the evolution of his modern image. It's a compilation of all the different new renditions of him from comics, cartoons and the newer statues and collectibles from GG, SS, etc.

Like Jim said, a dead on screen accurate figure wouldn't appear as a high end figure that fetches $150+ (at least sculpt-wise). By nature it would probably look a lot more like a Hasbro priced figure. I'm pretty sure SS realized that too.

This is one of the VERY VERY rare few characters that I could think of in the SW universe that's would get this kind of acceptance for being this far off from screen accuracy. If this was just about ANYBODY else, every forum across the world would go into instant meltdown :rotfl

So yea I'll give them a pass on Bossk but I'm gonna start flipping tables if they f__k up Dengar!!!!:lol

I think you guys are dead on with the evolution of Bossk - which I don't mind.

SSC Bossk is a heavy sucker.......and he's tallker than Fett by a bit, which is nice. Love to see Scale within the Bounty Hunter dudes

On a serious note, I bought the EX for no particular reason and didn't really have any intention of using it anytime soon, but after seeing them both in-hand, EX head will be the way mine's stay.

Agreed. :lecture

I love the character, but I don't like this figure that much. It's not just the head, aspects of the lower arms & legs, body proportions & outfit irk me immensely. :lol

Great shots of the gang, Chakaman. I'm not a fan of Dengar, but have to say yours and Feroze's are excellent customs. They have a grim and fierce look that hasn't been captured as well anywhere else, IMO.

Personally I'm glad he's been updated as some of the ESB stills really show how soft and almost deformed the sculpt/mask appears at certain angles. Feel the same way about the arms/legs. They don't look any more awkward to me than the actual costume, though I would've been fine had they skipped the hand articulation in order to remove a joint.

Chaka that Dengar is the ****!!!! Is it all the hasbro parts bashed with new head body and hands?

What's the body like on Bossk? how are the knees?

I think the knees are the new (and not so good) soft ones, that make it hard to move. It's not as bad as on other bodies; but I did notice the knee had more resistance than I'd have liked... but it does hold well.

Rest of the body is great though, no other issues.

You lost me in the last sentence... this is still definitely Bossk and easily one of the best figures released in the series. It is 100% worth the pick-up :lecture
