I really can't see this figure ever being any better then it is, amazing job!

Well at this point with all the monkeying around LFL has done with the films, I'd love to see an improved Ben/Vader duel.

Actually, they did.

It went be totally unnoticed, because of its subtlety, but if you do an A-B comparison between the DVD version of the ANH duel and the version in all previeous releases, you'll notice that it's slightly faster. It's sped up a bit, I believe, and it has more shots with more cuts (by that, I mean editing).

I think they realize, as most of us do, that CG jumping & flipping Old Ben would look wacky, too much to swallow. But I think they quickened the pacing of the duel with speed and faster edits to give it a little more punch.

Check it out, it's kind of cool once you can spot the minor tweaks and changes.

Interesting, I noticed when I was taking film stills for my figure images, there seemed to be points in the duel where they used the same clips, but as you say, it's subtle so casually watching you wouldn't notice, just see a fuller duel, kudos to the editing to make that work, however, why didn't someone think to fix the backwards Vader shot people have been pointing out for 30 years :lol

They'll fix that in Extra Super-Special Deluxe Co-Mega Holographic DVD Edition in 2017.

See, and its things like this that lead to Greedo shooting first

I like the original duel, great dialog and I always figured that w/o a lot of challengers both men became less battle hardened. I think it was a wake-up call to Vader that it was time to get his **** together... and therefore was more of a badass is ESB and ROTJ.

There comes a point where there has been so much done already that this one thing stands out. The old excuse that it was "an old man vs a cyborg" doesn't work anymore since you had an acrobatic duel with the an 800 yr old Yoda and a 80 yr old Dooku, then Yoda vs Palpatine. This one fight scene doesn't fit. I mean Luke's movements are crude and unrefined but that can be chalked up to the nature of his training.

thats why lucas should never have used the lightning fast samurai style dueling in the PT. sure it looks cool but it doesnt fit with the two-handed fencing style used in the OT movies.

Never thought of it like that before. That's the most logical explanation. Up until then I guess Vader didn't need to use his lightsaber much since he had a neverending supply of troops. And I doubt Obi-Wan planned to even go on one last adventure.

To stay hidden, I believe Obi-Wan had to stop practicing in the ways of the Force. This is proven when Yoda starts to train Luke in how Sidious and Vader both felt a tremor in the Force. When there are only four people alive who know how to use the force, almost anything would create a tremor. I think also, that is how Obi-Wan knew that Vader was still alive.

Using the force would be like any other learned skill... Don't do it for 19 years, you aren't that great when you start up again.

As for Vader, I'd imagine having to lug around four metal appendages is hard work. This, in particular, is one of the reasons I love the design of Vader's armour in ROTS... Vader's body hadn't adapted to the appendages yet, so his muscles hadn't grown, hence the baggier body suit ;)

Everytime someone suggests Lucas should go back and "update" the ANH duel I die a little inside.

By the time all is said and done the original will be available as well as every conceivable variation. We all know that requested or not Lucas will continually put out variations and we will buy them.

Dave, in the novel Dark Lord Rising, the final page has Obi Wan on Tattoine seeing a holo newscast featuring Darth Vader.
