I guess a waitlist conversion is better late than never... but that is strange since it had been closed?!?

Checking the site, there is only a waitlist for the exclusive, not for the regular.

Thought it was about time I posted some pics of my Obi Wan.
My wife got me a signed photo of Alec Guinness for my 30th when she worked near a very reputable autograph seller on The Strand in London, and this year for my 41st I got the SST Old Ben, so here they are together.

wow wook that is super freakin cool! congrats on that set up!

I don't like my chances, but I'm on the wait-list, anyway. Looks to be one of the absolute best Star Wars pieces Sideshow has produced.

Awesome set-up Jeff... that is something to be proud of :rock
(as much as we can be proud of being sci-fi geeks :lol)

I just bought this guy Today at my Hastings. He's actually my First Sideshow fig. I LOVE HIM! he's just spectacular.

I did however, already break the little clip on the unlit lightsaber. *sigh* it wouldn't be a high priced item that i owned if i somehow didn't break it in the first 5 mins. A little superglue should do the trick.

No way.....Obi's the flagship figure so far for SSC SW line.

The sculpt and factory paint (a little pale for a desert hermit) is the best on this one. However, the way they painted the eyes kind of ruin the realistic looking factory paint apps from being a homerun. :monkey4

See, I actually find the eyes to be the best part of the facotry paint apps. I think the factory apps got a bit too much praise really. The semi-gloss of the skin and hair is detracting and the uncleanness of the white highlights in the beard are kinda ho hum. He's a great figure and the paint apps are nice, but you'd swear they were the absolute best from some reactions and Sideshow's actually done better than him.

Funny my paint in the hair and the beard is almost perfect. Though I had noticed one side of yours in pics you had posted looked a little sloppy.

I had to look again.........

The skintone on mine is a flat matte finish :huh

But those bloodshot, almost centered white dot almost as big as the pupil eyes are........:horror

He's going to be fully repainted soon anyways.

I think most people praised the paint because the wash they used on previous figs weren't as realistic. For example, compare Ep 4 Obi to Ep3 Obi, which the wash looked like isolated sun burn or a rash in the center of his face.

Just my opinon of course

Well like I said, for the most part, I think he turned out very nice as far as paint apps go, but I certainly wouldn't rank his paint job as the best SSC'd ever done which some seemed to feel. He's one of my absolute favorite figures though, my favorite SW hero and I hope to see more PT Obi-Wan to fill in the collection.

Just curious excluding aliens, who would you rank best SSC SW factory paint to?
My runner up would be Boussh Leia.

Off the top of my head, Sidious, Boushh, minor people but the Endor Troops were painted pretty nicely. I'm not a fan of glossy skin, it's unnatural and for the most part, SSC figures have always had a nice matte to them. I've had 3 Old Ben's I've seen in person and they've all had some shine to them, not like Faramir, and I don't find it like hideous but it's certainly a trait that would hold me back from calling it one of their best paint apps.
