It seems like this figure holds up well over time, especially considering the considerable advancements in tailoring and head-sculpting with HT and other companies.

Does anyone that have the figure, can you answer me this:

Does this figure look dated?

I for one only think that the head sculpt needs re-touching (i.e, paint job), which will further enhance the solid job done.

Or, should we wait for a new and improved version? (don't hold your breath?) LOL

:slap The Obi's one of the best of the 1/6 SW releases...

Excuse me...

The re-paints by customizers does make it look better though. And I ask if it holds up with time next to newer collectibles. Thanks.

Yes it does.

I picked up the Ex for not much more than retail this year the figure is stunning

ANY repaint by a talented artist will make ANY 1/6 collectible always look better...

Repainted or not, it's a fine damn figure that any SW fan should be proud to have.

Is it possible that some day someone will make a better one? Of course it is! But if you keep holding out for a better version, you could end up with none at all. Having said that, if you have doubts about a figure, you shouldn't spend money on it. Save your money for something you're absolutely sure of.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Finally got my hands on this figure. WOW! Love it love it love it. I did modify mine a bit. I took bens costume head and hands and put it on a bespin luke body. I makes him the correct 1/6 height. Smaller than Han and taller than medicom Luke. Alec Guiness was 5'10" which equates to 11 11/16". Mine is just shy of that but looks great next to Luke. Great purchase for $60.00.

Personally I think this is one of the best figures every produced by any company. Even the factory paint application is very good, however, I have seen some collectors with expectations so high that even the best figure can't measure up to their standards.

I got mine from Comic Fusion. I don't know if they still have any but their price point with shipping was about $70.00. Great deal. Now I just need a sideshow Vader.

just want to share with you guys my repaint

GREAT job! I'm in the camp where I think the factory paint is fine. What you did, however, takes it to a new level! Congrats and enjoy your dolly. It's one of the best SS Star Wars figures available.

Thanks guys!

Yea i was originally happy with the stock paint, but since I started repainted all of my SW figures, I wanted a consistency among them.

One of the main thing that annoys me about the older SW releases are the white "dot" on the eyes. I'm glad that SS has recently stopped doing that from the few recent figures I have

That is a nice paint job!

I know you can't see that mold mark in the neck when it is on the figure but I would have sanded it down before painting it. It looks like he was bit by a zombie or vampire. My OCD would drive me nuts knowing it is there.
