I liked Andor, but it often felt too political, and reminded me of "trade disputes" a bit too much.I can see your points.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the high adventure and action of Star Wars as much as much as I did when I was a kid. But scenes such as Tarkin’s briefing on the stolen plans during ANH remain equally intriguing to me; perhaps more so now as an adult (even before Vader chokes out Lt. Santino ). I never knew how rewarding a series that focused on the bureaucratic core of the Empire and the desperation of those rallying to fight it could be until I saw Andor.
I don’t know about Gilroy’s level of admiration for the source material, but IMO he is crafting much-needed depth for the existing SW universe. Making sense of how that fits in with space witches and death-escaping astral planes is something that I’ll leave to the Wiki writers .
SW is really at its core a Flash Gordon series about space wizards and knights.
Princesses and Villans. So I am very glad for the escapism of that world. If I wanted political intrigue I would watch The West Wing.
The grown up in us is scoffing at the fantasy elements that we loved as a kid, and my inner child is starving for that content.
I get the need for more adult SW content for older viewers , but at its heart that not really what SW was about.
