It is still ANOTHER nameless ninja, could be worse could be another Cobra Trooper variant.

Still, who wouldn't pay extra to get a different cobra minion, if it is al new acces and costume and sculpt, why not a BAT or an EEL, Snow Serpent, Crimson Guard etc etc, they could easily bump the edition higher and sell plenty if people want doubles/triples.

And as this IS a Viper...an assault rifle of some type is a requirement. I have a preference for the Uzi, but only if they sculpt a hand to hold it well.

Sho Kosugi films have not held up well. Mainly because of the crappy American villians and such.

You need to see Ninja Assassin. :wink1:

It's not another nameless ninja. He was an actual figure in the vintage line and even again, in the 25th anny line. By that rational, why give us the Cobra Trooper or Cobra officer? They're just nameless variants too. :huh

I have no problem with the release other than I sorta now regret making my third red ninja. Snake Eyes wood look a little out numbered with Storm Shadow and 4 ninjas against him, but then again...it is Snake Eyes. :lol

I really need to make some diorama parts for the scene. But to hold 6 figures it will need to be huge.

Well, you could always embrace the comics and have SE and SS fighting back-to-back against the other ninjas. Storm Shadow wasn't a bad guy. :wink1:

that is true...does he still have the cobra emblem when fighting against the reds? not that i need to be that ____ about it.

Well, if you risk doing some of those folks are gonna get pissed because they feel those characters shouldn't be Comic-Con Ex. The Ninja Viper can be looked at as a simple ninja repaint that will only piss off the "true believers" I guess of how the Joe stuff.

There's an excellent story arc where he and SE duke it out with him explaining how he joined Cobra to find out who murdered his father. That's why the second version has no Cobra sigil and no, Cobra the Enemy markings on the card:

He was Snake Eyes undacova brotha! :monkey4 :lol

One of the things I hated the most about reading comic books when I was young was when they would make a badass bad guy into a good guy when he got popular with the fans. And conversely, unpopular good guys would get turned bad on a rare occasion, as well.

I had no issue with Storm Shadow joining the Joes. I did have an issue with Zartan having a crisis of conscience and assuming the Blind Master's identity, though. Stopped reading soon after that, so I don't know what became of Zartan's switch to the good side.

I seem to remember Sideshow showing product pics a few days before SDCC exclusives PPO; with the PPO set for Tuesday and Wednesday for attendees and non-attendess, respectively, we should get pics either later today or Monday, no?

I always felt the last part on SS's filecard was a hint:

Additionally, unless my memory of the comics fails me, Storm Shadow only showed up as a "bad guy" in three short story arcs: in the famous "Silent Interlude" issue (#21) where he captured Scarlett, when he broke out Cobra Commander from the Joes captured, and when he faced Snake Eyes and confessed why he was with Cobra in the "Origin of Snake Eyes" story arc (#'s 26 and 27). After that, he was in the background training Billy, until he found out that Zartan was the Hard Master's killer, whereupon Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes stormed Cobra Island.

Considering this was over 20 years ago, I hope I didn't have to use a spoiler for that.

He does cut up some of the Joes pretty bad in one of the early issues though.

I believe that is correct. That way folks get a full reveal of what the item will look like with all the extras. I may be wrong though.

Seems like Hama intended for Storm Shadow to be a "not typical bad guy" from the beginning, though I didn't consider him to be completely heroic, either. Somewhere in-between, acting out of loyalty to his clan. That might have changed when I stopped reading the comic, though (around 1987), but that stuff doesn't count anyway.

So I gues we will get another 4-5 Cobra Commander, 6-7 more SE, 3-4 more SS, 2 diff Roadblocks, and how many more variants of the cobra trooper could they come up with? I don't play with the figures so to me it is just another rehash of a Red Ninja, different colors, yes he was a vintage and 25th ann figure, but those were just simple repaints as well....(not even the same color as this new viper, and yeah I understood "why" they did it, but still different). I would much rather have another character that wasn't just "easy" for Sideshow to do.

If they made enough for con-goers AND online orders (which they do anyways), should have been able to suffice the demand.
