You know what one of the major things that killed the LOTR line vs the SW line or the Joe line?

No rehashes.

Would any LOTR fan have complained about getting too many orcs or too many Ringwraiths or too many prologue elves?
(All things that would have shared parts).

Part of an intelligent business plan is to max out certain templates, molds, etc. The rehash of clones for SW is helping to finally push out individual characters.

If SSC releasing Ninjas and Cobra soldiers helps fund figures like Roadblock then I am all for it.

I think at this point Spazzy, you're trying too hard. We get that you don't like the figure, but we're also getting that you haven't the slightest clue about what an SDCC Ex is (regardless of how many times you've attended).

This isn't just a recolor. New pants, new headsclupt, different weapons, etc. Did you miss the VIP posts? :dunno

:duh:duh:duh:duh:duh

new pants? really, if this is what excites you about the Joe figures more power to you.

So we can get the same figures but with a diff head sculpt a couple new guns and new pants and you will be happy with that? really?

You're talking like there's not going to be a regular release at the convention, or that this is occupying a space that something more significant would have occupied.

It's not, and you still don't get it.

back to Aayla, made 3000 of those, not exactly limited considering still going for retail. Not saying to release a 1st or 2nd tier character, but why not another trooper or someone not as popular as Zartan or Beachhead, what about Zarana, or any other Dreadnoks, the list could go on so I won't bother....it isn't like these are not available to the general public, you order them a week or two after the preorder for the attendees go up.

When there were 3000 Aayla Securas, Star Wars figures were still being made at twice that quantity. The exclusive before that was 5000, at a time when regular releases were, again, twice that.

They could sell a lot more Drednoks than they could Ninja Vipers, and who knows...maybe once they've done Zartan, someone marginal like Zarana will turn up as an exclusive.

They are available to non-attendees, but look at the prices CCC is getting now. He's more expensive than regular Cobra Commander.

OMG! Beachhead and Duke have the same body! Snake Eyes and Duke have the same pants! Storm Shadow has the same shirt as Snake Eyes, only white! THEY'RE ALL VARIANTS?!?!?! :panic::panic::panic:

Look at the very first wave of RAH Joes Hasbro ever produced. ALL of them reused the same parts. Hasbro continually reused the same parts well through the "vintage" RAH's entire line. Even the most casual of Joe fans knows this. This isn't a simple headswap, nor is it "same guy different color." There's enough here to make this it's own release and arguably a better distinction between him and the Red Ninja than the Cobra Officer and Cobra Trooper, so I really don't see what all the whining's about.

You're trying to compare SS, Hasbro, etc to the artist there. :lol Totally different animals.

The point of the Comic-Con Ex is to make just enough to meet those going and for some not. If the ES were larger then they might as well make it a regular release. :slap

still exclusives :slap

they release the exc to anybody anyways, in my eyes they are just another pre ordered item, you just get it faster.

Which is why I still support them, just not happy with the choice, if it is new weapons new headsculpt anyways, why not a new character that doesn't look like something we already received?

I think they'll offer SOME new stuff, but not enough to really say "they might as well have made a new figure".

Still shares the same clothing (minor adjustments aside), same arm and leg guards, same shoes, many of the same weapons, same hands, etc.

I think the head sculpt tweek is probably a minor cost as well.

I agree, you're trying too hard to prove SSC made a mistake just because you personally don't like it. (We all have done that at some point).

Which would be awesome if we got Zarana, a real exc.

No he isn't taking up the place of a reg release, they might not even have done him at all for sdcc, but they did so us buyers get to talk about it, joys of the internet.

no one is paying the inflated prices for CCC

ninja viper is fine with me , but i agree if the changed all that we could of had slice

I really do not need to prove that I have been to sdcc, I know I have been and that is good enough for me, could really care less if you think I have gone or not.

I don't care if you do or don't to be honest with you.

If a character is in demand, why wouldn't they put a higher edition size up? There is a reason the rehashed troopers have lower es#'s, they won't sell as much.

Agreed the more popular the character the ES will most likely be higher but ES for Comic-Con ES don't need to be higher. Thats why these being variants or repaints make the most sense lower ES that just meets demand. Is it that hard to understand? :dunno

Aayla is a character that was popular for awhile (don't follow SW much anymore) so I would see her on the same level as a third tier Joe character probably more popular than most. Exc are wanted by most, that is why they usually sell out, toys, comics, prints etc, just saying a better character would have been a better choice, but hey if you are happy with a green ninja cool, I won't judge, I wasn't happy with the rehashed troopers, but still got them, and like I said I will still get this green ninja, just don't like the choice.

She's a popular niche type character but not uber popular like if they did Jango Fett. More people than the standard es for a comic-con ex would want some of your choices. Thats not a good choice for SS to do.

This pissing and moaning around this figure is hilarious! If SSC made an exclusive that was a new character people would have a ____ fit, SSC decides to do a figure with new parts and a slight redeco people still _____ and moan. They can't win! I'd prefer something like this considering this line is "strong like bull" and the fact that great figures are coming down the pipe. :lecture

not really, they are still a different character (yes I understand the green viper is supposed to be the teal ninja viper, but is it? no), next we will see a crimson Storm Shadow, but that is alright with you. Can't wait for the neon green Snake Eyes :lol does he have a rocket launcher too? I hope it is neon orange

you are talking about a 1982 vintage line compared to a company that is one of the top of the line producers today, I think they can do something with a little more "wow"

Yes, they're all exclusives but artists have to approach things differently than these larger companies. They kind of have to offer something brand new to get folks to stop by.:slap

They are available to anyone which isn't a big deal who freaking cares. :dunno

Yes it is. Or do you have difficulty reading what everybody else has said. He's a troop builder, just like the Cobra Troopers. As for the rest, if they were all SDCC exclusives I wouldn't give two ____s or a ____, really. That's my whole point. SDCC exclusives aren't regular releases. They're supposed to have limited appeal.

Yes, and Sideshow is paying homage to that vintage line. Jesus, you'd mess your diaper if SSC started banging out the old greenshirts wouldn't you? :lol

:exactly::exactly::goodpost::goodpost:

Well, really its just one person. The rest of us should probably just move on now that we see we're not getting anyplace. :lol

Ok. When gas wasn't $4/gal. and the dollar was still worth half a damn, he went for more than CC.

He is a poor example though. No one wanted CCC, well done as he was.

Aayla Secura does sell higher than retail, which Star Wars figures rarely do, and she was one of the top three worst figures in the line.

She also has a new found appeal with her Clone Commander being released.
