Not sure what everyone else's expectations were for this, but from that video review, it looks pretty good to me. Love the box, tailoring is ok, likeness is there, it's Snake through and through.

For what it is, and where it's coming from... I'm happy with it. A lot more than I thought I would be.

Sure the figure is not perfect straight out of the box but to me as a fan of the movie I will definitely be adding this to my collection. This will be the only Snake Plissken in 1/6 scale and that makes this an instant purchase for me.

I firmly believe this might be the one and only chance on it. Unless Hot Toys pulls it out of their ass, completely out of the blue.

For the price, it isn't that bad. I like the box the best. And who knows if this "promo" piece will be different than actual production.

Still getting one for my spook13 winner, but will not be reordering one for me. I love the movie and would like a killer figure, but he is going to stand out like a sore thumb. The only SS figures I have left are Batman, Joker, Catwoman, Harley. And that sickly looking Superman will not be coming in this house either( and thats a $200 figure). SS really really needs to step it up on all their products with what they want to charge.

Completely agree. I think it look great, considering. I ordered a Sideshow figure, not a Hot Toys one and it looks like my expectations were met just fine. We'll see how I feel with the figure in-hand.

"Dodson! We've got Dodson here! See look, nobody cares." :rotfl (Thanks for that, Snake.)

I just gave that review another watch, looks MUCH better than the photos from SDCC. There was something really weird in those photos. I don't know if I got the bawz to weather the jacket, I might just leave it alone.

Anyone else getting two? I'm getting a second, just to have in the coat and in some 1/6 handcuffs I'll pick up.

Hell... maybe three, just to have shirtless with a baseball bat and trashcan lid if I can find one.

Thanks for posting the review... honestly overall I'm happy with the release. It's not stellar, but better than it could have been and the head (while a bit basic) will be an easy one to improve with a bit of paint work. I'm particularly happy to see that they did not separate out the hair (at least not in the front) like they did with Drake.

I adjusted the levels a bit on this screen grab... and aside from the eye placement being a touch high it looks good to me. And the front of the hair (forehead) is definitely a solid sculpt.

I'm also thinking the lighting for the review might be a touch on the yellowish side... at least that's what I'm hoping. Sideshow tends to do okay with skintones, so I'd be surprised if he's as yellow as the review suggests... which also means the overall paint work might look better in hand.

Face doesn't look like it has any Drake-like problems. But the paint app doesn't seem very detailed. I still don't know about this eye method. I have the Vader figure and the eyes are fine on that. Not sure what problem this new method is solving.
Granted this figure was priced $75 less, but seeing this the same day as Star-Lord, there's still a big difference in quality of paint apps on the head sculpts. Also the new head method still seems like it alters the original head sculpt a bit.

Definitely not anywhere near a Drake situation... but even he was salvageable with some work :lol

Fair enough if you don't like the figure, but Wendy and Jason are genuine. They've been into 1/6th well before Hot Toys was a big player, and they have been collecting sideshow all along. They have a genuine love for Sideshow 1/6th products. So yeah, it's cool if you hate the figure but don't think Wendy and Jason are anything less than genuine in their opinions. They're legit.

C'mon... a line like the head is "On par with the top manufacture's 1/6 scale efforts, to the best of our knowledge" is silly. They posted a review of the Batman Armory with Wayne... and even from the slightly grainy video you can see how much better looking that sculpt and paint are :lol

If a reviewer's knowledge of 1/6 is that limited to think that Snake is "on par" with Hot Toys, then either the knowledge base is low (which we know it isn't) or they're pulling punches.

Still, I certainly appreciate the review... especially breaking it down from the body, to clothing, etc.

I like what I'm seeing. He's gonna look great up on the shelf with a bit of jacket weathering.

Agreed... all the parts are there, just need to weather him a bit.

Jacket took a big hit. And the paints are nothing more impressive than what we saw with Joe line.

Aside from the improved body, seems a standard Sideshow release, nothing ground breaking or overly impressive.

Nothing groundbreaking, but also not a total trainwreck. I'm just happy he doesn't totally suck :lol

That Stark didn't cost $150. :lol

But yea. This is nothing new from SS. I don't see why people are shocked. Unless you are newbs.

Yep, welcome to the world of collectors with "lowered expectations" :lol

It will be the same... the pre-review figures are just production pieces they get either a bit early or rush out as soon as they land. I've been able to do a few reviews for figures from Sideshow and they were all stock figures, no different than what I would have gotten had I pre-ordered them.

My only real complaint is the stand sucks.

Yeah, not a fan of the new stand. I'd prefer they'd kept the orignal or gone with a smaller one like HT.

Yeah, the SDCC figure... while not terrible, looked like they tried to go with a translucent plastic that gave him an odd glowing look. This looks much better.

Drake is a mess. Although looked pretty good after a repaint, Galacticboy did a great job on it.

This is a good indication for Beetlejuice and Ash in the future.

Thank ya :duff And yeah, if Ash turns out as nice as this I'll be very pleased. And I'm not too worried about Beetlejuice as he has a lot more wiggle room on how his skin tones can turn out and still look good.

Beetlejuice definitely has wiggle room, they'd have to want to mess it up. I doubt Ash's clothing will look dirty like it should, and will look clean just like Snake's coat and Indy's clothing.

Yeah, his clothing might not be as weathered as they should... but interestingly they seemed to have done a nice job on Drake's weathering; just totally ****ed up his face :lol

But, to me as long as the sculpt, body and tailoring are solid... all the rest of it (paint and weathering) can be remmedied. Still, we shouldn't have to do mods to our figures, but I just come to expect it anymore :lol

Definitely been considering that after seeing what he did with Drake. Plus, I have a few other things that have minor defects on other headsculpts that need to be remedied.

I LIKE it :D

Curious on the Base body. Maybe switch to a KP and add "Cobra" tat.

The headsculpt is NOT that bad. Yes a repaint would truly push it over the edge but as for straight out of the box, works a treat.

Think the highlight for me is the Jacket is near pristine. So MUCH fun to be hand adding your own wear and tear and weathering to it :D Means No two will be alike unless someone starts churning them out LOL

Kit looks solid and weapons too. No to see if it is possible to use leather boots adding on some parts from the original for more foot articulation?

All in All, I cannot wait to get mine Now :D Very happy with the video even if she is Very Pro biased SS.

I totally feel ya... I'd rather pay $40 then have to do it myself :lol But, I know that's just not reality when it comes to Sideshow, maybe one day... but I've been with them since "The Vampyre" so my faith in them tightening up QC and keeping it that way is non-existent.

Hell, earlier in the year when I got the v2 Cobra Commander; his ****ing knees wouldn't bend, and it wasn't an anomoly... just a ****** knee design. So I had a $175 figure who could only stand with a straight-leg pose... how the **** does something like that happen :huh
