I'm having a really hard time seeing the "discernable" differences between the prototype and final product. Definitely not enough to garner this crybaby kicking and screaming nonsense that is being thrown around. It's real simple, don't buy the damn thing if you think it looks like Captain ****ing Ron and not Snake Plissken.

Well I hope it looks a lot like Captain Ron.

Which it doesn't by the way.

People who cancel are going to regret it when they have to pay two or three times the initial price later.

I've seen the customs. All I can say and to quote Oscar Goldman, garbage. Pure bottom of the cat box garbage. Those customs remind me of the jenky assed Deckard and Batty I turned loose of years ago. Something to say you have but certainly shouldn't be so fanboy proud of.

Sideshow has been around a long time and in my opinion kept the 1/6th scale market alive when it wasn't "cool". Those goofy bastards took the shot and got collectors interested in looking outside of the ****** 3-3/4" market again. Hot Toys may be the hot**** in the game but their catalog cannot touch Sideshow. The sheer volume of work for good, bad, and ugly that Sideshow has put out over the years is amazing.

All the hate is unwarranted and unacceptable from people who've never done anything but repaint a sculpt they didn't make or modify dolly clothes they didn't sew.

Hot Toys does phenomenal work. We get it. Okay.

They still only focus on ******** iron man figures though. Or Arnold Schwarzenegger. They like him too. Unless it's Conan. Then he eats ****. Who honestly wanted a Matrix figure? Commando eats a bag of dicks.

I saw an earlier post about Hot Toys working the fringe with shout outs to Aliens and Robocop. Seriously? Aliens and Robocop? Both of those films were box office mega hits that spawned countless sequels or were the sequel to what became countless sequels. I believe they're called franchises. Much like Arnold Schwarzenegger who is a franchise in his own right.

Snake is an actual fringe character. A true "cult classic". One I guarantee is not and never was on Hot Toys radar. Not with Avengers 2, Ant-Man, Spiderman part one million or Pirates of the Caribbean 6000 on the way.

They make eye candy for mindless consumers to go "oooohhh donuts".

Stop fretting. You'll forget all about how "******" Snake looks by the time your flex pay for the overpriced next Marvel release comes out.

I love Commando and have always wanted a figure of John Matrix since i saw the 1 custom. :pfft:

Ewww.

When they're not stroking Marvel, Nolan or Depp, they have been known to dip into a few cults, such as Planet of the Apes, Sucker Punch or the '66 Batman...

Planet of the Apes you can have (no, really, keep it) though it was a Burton film and probably just Hot Toys fishing for other licenses. Sucker Punch was expected to be a hit and '66 Batman may as well have been Star Trek. Nothing fringe about that one.

I don't know but they didn't make any more. When Hot Toys stops a line before finishing the main characters I see that as a decision based on marketing, unless there's a rights issue involved.

They'll venture until they know it's not safe. POTA is a proven geek property. I think the problem tends to be their prices. Line depth becomes prohibitive when each entry is an investment. Very little short of Batman, Marvel or Star Wars can perform at that level.

Did they really do anything related to Burton's POTA?

They must not have. I paid no attention to their POTA figures because I'm not a fan. That's why I didn't realize the difference.

I'm a sixth scale omnivore. I pick and choose from licenses and companies depending what appeals to me, so it isn't a company vs. company issue, but each figure on its merits.

Me too. I think the issue here is a strong tendency for one company to be heralded automatically over the other, while the other gets trashed. And it's pretty unilateral. Always the same snobs and trolls. Always the same pig snout in the box of donuts. :)lol)

It's dumb. :dunno

^^^hahah

Cammando was a sick movie. It had the perfect formula for a action movie. Arnold + military grade weapons + catchy ringtone music = instant hit.

Anybody got this figure charged on the 31st? I Know all the flex pay got bumped but all the non flexpayers were gonna be charged on that day.

I didn't, and I was waiting for it. Makes me wonder if it's still stuck in port. Oy. :rolleyes2

This thread has gotten crazy. It's like the Psycho-Reactive slime from Ghostbusters II has taken over the entire thing. Who's got some Jackie Wilson? :lol

Wow, you go away for a few days and everyone goes crazy :lol

I honestly think the figure turned out pretty good... is it perfect or HT quality, certainly not. But for the $150ish it will cost me with shipping and using the $20 coupon I'm content. Looks like the jacket can be futzed and I like the new arms; could be a good option for a few characters.

Paint work looks decent, but there is quite a bit of variance from one picture to the next, so I'll be very curious to see how he looks in-hand and I'm hoping the lapels can be futzed back to normal, right now the big lapels are the only area I'm really concerned about.

What broke on the Drake body?

I have 3 of the Drake bodies and haven't had any issues with breakage or loose joints... although I don't like how the rubber parts of the torso get caught when you use the ab crunch. Aside from that it's a solid option IMO.

For the record, I knew it would be worse than the prototype and had the slightest bit of hope it would look good but it turned out s lot worse than I even thought. In my personal opinion it's Nathan Drake bad.

C'mon now... it's to that bad. Paint looks better and there doesn't appear to be any distortion to the sculpt. The coat is not as good as it could be, but it seems fixable and the rest of him looks pretty solid, albeit too clean.

No charge yet... still shows as processing. Although I had to change my credit card at the last minute... so I figured that may have caused a delay for mine.

Delusions, brah.

The facial likeness is the worst part. Then the jacket.
It's just a shame that someone looked at what's being released and felt it was adequate.

The likeness is great - I think some people have problems with what the paint looks like in those overexposed, poorly posed review videos.
Yes, the lapels on the jacket appear to be oversized - they MUST be crucified for that...
