Looks like Sideshow's left the door wide open for a company like Art Figures or DAM/VTS to steal their thunder with an unlicensed Snake Plissken.

Or maybe Head Play will just recast the Sideshow sculpt, because they're sure to do a better paintjob on it.

Haven't you been keeping up with this thread? Nobody will make another Snake Plissken figure EVER. This is our ONLY chance of owning a Snake figure in our LIFETIME.

This is why it's so important to buy it. I'm not even 30 and I KNOW there will never be another Snake figure made in the next 40+ years.

:cuckoo:

Hot Toys is far from fallible. This is what $160 got you.

I must break you, derp!!

That's really funny. I didn't realize they made they figure. Btw, I think you meant they're not "infallible."

Yeah, I'm with you there. Vader and Malgus both look great, but they're also pasty scarred people, so it's unclear if that quality would have translated to normal skin tone. We'll never know since they started the stupid new eye system. The eyes on Anakin look fine too, still not sure what the problem they sought to fix was.

It's done to make painting the eyes easier in production.

Still looks like a work in progress. Definitely took a step back quality wise with Drake and Fives and Echo when you compare those three to Vader, Obi-Wan, and Malgus. Snake looks like there's no face plate distortion but with only one eye it's tough to say they've improved the process.

And yet the separate eye plate approach looks great on Batman, Harley Quinn, Baroness, Destro, and Commander Wolffe which are the only ones I own myself.

Could be wrong but Wolffe looks painted. Came out when Vader and Malgus did. Not sure about the others but given that Baroness and Harley Quinn shipped way before Drake she probably has painted eyes too, no? Either way it seems like the system has gotten worse then.

Wolffe was the first one they did it on. And it looked good.

Gotcha, thanks. Well I still prefer the look of the Vader eyes, lots more going on there, veins, etc. and the shape of the face isn't altered by the faceplate like some of the figures seem to be. But I don't have any of the newer clones in hand to directly compare.

It's odd that Wolffe was so good considering he's the first they did. I would expect that they would've gotten incrementally better.

I do think that SSC's pics are going to be the best representation of what it's like in-hand, as they have pretty even lighting, what it would look like on the shelf. Nobody blasts their collection with bright white light. . . at least no collection here I've seen.

Also, how many of us have the figure close enough to our faces to really see the detail in the paint work? I have 20/15 vision and can't see most of the paint detail unless its right to my face. Part of the problem these up close photos present is they show more than we will actually see in hand.

I think this figure will look fine in a display case. The paint doesn't look bad, it's just not up to Hot Toys standards.

Well I talked to Sideshow Tesa and still the figure is trapped on the port. Didn't mention the reviews or the quality that reflects those reviews but wanted. My hope is weak but it's still there.

And yet the longer they sit in port, the more my concern goes up. I was half joking before regarding the weathering of the jacket, but sitting outside in a metal storage container can't be that great for collectible figures, no? I'd hate to have material breakdown problems due to exposure. (But then, I could be more than a little paranoid here... though they have been there for a month now...) :(

Where the bloody Hell is my nail-biting emoticon?
