Hey guys, new here - first post but I've been following this thread for months in anticipation of Snake's release.

Got mine yesterday and, while I wasn't as disappointed as some right out of the box, the big thing that stuck out to me was the lack of weathering on the jacket. So, I grabbed some paints & did a little dry-brushing. I think it turned out ok...what do you guys think?

And some of him wearing the finished job...

One more of Snake amongst my EFNY collection...or some of it, anyway.

I got mine today. He's not as bad as many believe IMO. But I did break 2 holster straps and a wrist peg all within 30 mins of normal post unbox futzing. And I did have a bad feeling that I was going to snap an arm any moment.

Almost done! Just adding some color but it's dark in montreal so I'll take more photos tomorrow morning. I'll try to take a few pics soon

Got started on customizing Snake today... took some sandpaper to the coat and then used a Tamiya weathering kit to knock off that show-room shine. Also gave the pants a tea bath and used a bit of the weathering kit on them.

What paint did you used and color?

Well, Snake arrived up here to the cold north...opened him up to find the figure has a broken left arm. Extremely disappointed, especially after the LONG wait.
Wrote customer service and I'll call tomorrow (too late tonight).

I hope they just want to send a new figure and not make me send the whole thing back (so I can wait another 2-3 weeks)....everything else is okay...and it's the first box I've gotten direct from Sideshow in a long time that wasn't f'd up.

Despite the busted arm, my first impressions are good. I like the packaging a lot. The head looks better "in hand" than even the best pictures in here are making it look (even if it is really loose on the neck...be careful folks or Snake'lll lose his head) The whole package and accessories are reminding me how fun it was to get that Sideshow Indy figure several years back. Lots of cool display options here.

It's great to see some folks getting the customization thing going already...some good looking stuff going on.

I hope Sideshow gets back to me quick on this...I like the figure...I just don't want a broken one. It's be one thing if the arm was just "unplugged"...but it's broken. Grrrr.....

Keep the pics and comments coming, folks.

@Jedibear thats too bad D: How did his arm get broken?

Well, the thing I noticed is that you got rid of some of that pale, blank look the sculpt has...I think that's my biggest complaint is that there is no color/detail to the hs besides that so called beard...looks better...

Yeah he had a bit or airbrush near his hairline on top but that was it? ( Did you guys notice his neck joint is shedding? )

Added some tone and blushing with pastels, because mah man aint a zombie :/

What paint did you used and color?
I used an acrylic burnt umber, mixing white, and a bright orange. Basically just mixed various combinations of each on a pallette with a bit of water and dry brushed them on going from lightest to darkest. Didn't really have a master plan, just did it by eye, smudging a bit with my fingers here and there. Took me about 1.5 hours in all.

I'd love to know what paints you used and see a how-to guide. Never repainted a HS before but this looks awesome. Great job!

Thank you! I have a " paint job section " in my blog for more of my work. There is a sort of step by step of how I painted a Rainman Dexter head :)

I use pastels and acrylics. Im not that good but I love painting figures since I used to paint doll heads before getting into action figures.

The thicker facial hair and color to his lips and general complexion did wonders for that sculpt. Really nice job. I think a tweak to the eye and you can really bring the sculpt up to an acceptable level.

Man, I can't wait to get to Snake's jacket. I don't have the skills for a head repaint, but I've got all sorts of plans for that jacket.
