Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

^^ Jago22 \m/Great custom work. :)

People,,, like I said, you could put the real live Kate in her movie costume and display her and people will still *****. nit pick on everything that is not right. LOL wow!

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

sorry but in the evolution version the hair are pretty the same ;)

it's actually not. the hair on yours looks like she's stepped out of the salon with a perfect blow dry. it's always slightly messy in the film. but whatever....all good, your figure still looks cool.

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

^^^ i dont know man his figure in as is state aces out the star ace figure in every category, except the sculpt accuracy. So until they ace that... lets atleast complement his hard worked custom. on one hand we are so patient with a figure... whose, sculpt need to be reduced, body needs to be changed, outfit material needs to be changed, and on the other we are criticizing probably one of the best selene figure cause her hair seem to be "perfect and out of a salon"

PS: not trying to pick a fight just saying that dude has a pretty good figure... probably much better than the one shown by star ace "as is" ... lets just encourage him a bit :( but happy with your "figure still looks cool" part...:hi5:

maybe you've right but I am still bored to mess with her hair :lol

thanks leon really appreciated...I am confident in the ace's work,I ve seen the others their figures and they are pretty good..I only hope they will make some relevant changes on the outfit, sculpt and for the most the boots.. ;)..for now is a nice doll but not an accurate selene..

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

I do hope that Star Ace stick with sculpted hair for their mass produced pieces though.

aci toys created an aragorn figure with soft hair, they sold it with LONG hair that the customer had to cut/style themselves. why? because the length of the hair and style he has [chin length/messy] is a hard one to duplicate 1000 plus times for a figurine. same goes with selene, it's a tricky hairstyle to pull off accurately over mass production. when the aragorn hair is cut right it looks great, when it's not, it looks terrible. sculpted hair makes much more sense mass production wise for hair of that length and that style, without a doubt.

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

i would like a figure to compare with my custom..
rooted hair and especially leather boots not moulded plastic boots
and i think the suit has to be more brillant.. not opaque...

The head sculpt possibly appears to be (to me) a female head sculpt by Triad Toys that has been repainted, hair re-rooted/re-styled.

Please advise.

Superb job on the custom and it looks superior to Star Ace's proposed prototype.

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

Comparing a custom to a very early prototype isn't really fair to Star Ace, and I kind of wish people would stop doing so. We all know a lot is going to change on Star Ace's version so I think comparing them now isn't helping or doing one lick of good.

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

Well that's a really nice custom but it still looks generic imo.
Even in the early stages I prefer Star Ace's prototype. It looks more tactical and less glamorous without the shiny wet look. The sculpt is excellent as well.. I see Kate's likeness and the details are sharp.
The custom is great. But Star Ace's effort isn't behind it at all.

thanks DeltaForceChung, for the start of the project I had used a sideshow anna valeroius head to make a custom selene but the head was too cartoonish in my opinion and too fat...for what i rememebr I bought this head long, long time ago..I 've resculpted the cheeks and the lips to make them more prominent and trimmered the nose, then I've repainted the entire head... my purpose was to achieve a better kate's likeness then I 've rooted the hair better than the original vers (she was like a barbie doll :lol)....it don't belong to any brand.. the head was sold like a female head custom made and there wasn't any colleration to kate beckinsale.. I am been lucky

the figure is not finished yet,I have to wire the cape to achieve some better dynamic poses and became crazy to mess around with the hair.. :lol
some other stuff come from the figure fun

:clap:exactly:

jago72's custom is very nice, but maybe better off in a separate thread.

for what I ve seen from now the star ace prototype do not convince me in an instant buy.. (my pers opinion)
the suit is meh, the cape is meh...the corset is meh..the boots no comment
the head is a teenager cosplay selene.. btw is still a prototype..
maybe the base and accesories are good..but is not enough
and maybe some others custom made selene posted here could be a suggestion to make a stellar ace figure (my pers opinion)

Again, it's an early prototype and some of the things that you don't like about it, such as the corset, has already been explained how it will change. As far as the headsculpt is concerned, it captures KB's likeness a great deal more than yours.

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here, but implying that your custom is greater than all things Star Ace is distracting and borderline span. Your custom is nice, but there is a custom section where you can show it off and have your ego pumped up.

Thank you for the details on the head sculpt.

I hope you don't mind, but I shared your pictures (with proper credit) at another 1:6 discussion group where the same type of discussion about the 1:6 Selene figure is ongoing.

I and others look forward to your final finesse on the figure.

:)

Re: 1/6 Star Ace - Underworld

@jago72

The head you used was probably the phicen tumulous raider I (lara croft-the left one in the pic below):

I can understand why people complain when someone shows (off) his custom figure on an official thread.
But when a company has presented a figure that has missed quite a few spots,
maybe then can take advise and see how a custom one has hit the mark.
IMO this custom is looking a lot better than star ace's one.
If a company has a license they have approval to reach perfection in every aspect (face, clothes, accessories)
in order to present the best possible figure and star ace simply didn' t do it.
Maybe it would be better if star ace wasn't so hasty to present their prototype,
because a lot of us want perfection and we are just not seeing it.
