1/6 The Last of Us Joel

Alright, everyone- I'm trying to do the research to see if I can financially make up custom Ellie and Joel figures, and I'm stuck on a head sculpt for Joel. I see everyone on here talking about Kai Studios' and Iminime's sculpt, both of which are ~$150 (if you can even find them!). However, there are several Joel head sculpts available on eBay for only $30-40, so what am I missing here? I assume the Joel heads on eBay are of lower quality than Kai's or Iminime's or are bootlegs or something, but are they THAT much worse, or, if I would order one, would they look WAY worse than the pics of the heads on eBay (because they look pretty great in the eBay pics, and they're from sellers with almost nothing but very high positive feedback)?

I try to live by "if something seems too good to be true, it probably is," so again, I ask, experienced Joel customizers- am I missing something here? Have any of you ordered one of the Joel sculpts from eBay and can share pics of it?

Guys what is the best body for Ellies? Play toys modified as kai's or star ace hermione girl? Or what other suggestions do you think is better?

I am waiting for my Ellie head sculpt and body to arrive, so I don't know anything for sure, but I have been told that the Obitsu bodies are too small (for the size of the head sculpt, I assume). A few people have told me that the Play Toys Hit Girl body works well (that's the one Kai uses), but you have to modify it like Kai does for it to work really well, apparently.

Ive known that the Hermione body would work very will, 10" and her body is awesome. But it's really hard to find it nude(body only). Btw, who made the head u are waiting for?

I'm getting a Kai Studios Ellie head sculpt sent to me from a member on the One Sixth Warriors forum.

I got an obitsu body for mine, and overall it looks great, but the neck is a little small. It seems to be possible to put a tube inside to pad it out a bit and make it wider similar to what people were doing on the MMS238 Terminator, though on mine I ended up cutting back the rubber neck and replacing it with a new neck I sculpted out of sculpy attached directly to the head. I have to try to find some shoes the correct size.

I'm currently doing joel and ellie too (new to this and OMG its expensive)
I used an obitsu 25 body (for the height) and have cut and lengthened the arms with apoxie, and built it up also with apoxie
I did the feet, teeny bit on her thighs, waist and chest to bulk up the tiny body. Her hands are still pretty small though, I have a HT babydoll so might mould her hands even if they are a bit too big

For joel I used a cheap body

So far trimmed the neck and shortened the legs. i've made a ton of work for myself but I like the armhair detail as opposed to the smooth plastic figures.

I find the necks are stupidly long. I'm using scaled print outs for reference

You can buy Kai's Joel head sculpt directly from him ([email protected]) for $140 plus either $20 for EMS shipping or $11 for registered airmail. He is also selling Ellie's backpack for $50, but it is unpainted and unassembled. He told me those are the only TLoU-related items he has for sale.

That's the only source for them that I know about, unfortunately.

I bought from kai Ellies shirt a while ago for kitbashing Ellie but I didn't know which is the simplest way to find a body to use on her without any modifications, I have an Iminime Ellie in my detolf, since its a obitsu 23 cm body( as I know), I gave it a try to see how kai's shirt would be fitting on her. It turned out bigger than what I expected.

I didn't know what to do to make it smaller since I really like the size of the body. Any one knows which body would fit better than obitsu but in the 8" tall ?

Just last month I asked Kai to sell me everything on the full TLoU figure sets he made and sold a few years back, but he said he is now only selling Joel's head and Ellie's backpack, so I'd be surprised if he offers you any other TLoU items. Of course it wouldn't hurt to ask!

Also, before I was able to purchase an Ellie head sculpt and shirt from a member of the onesixthwarriors forum, I did find someone making an Ellie shirt on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/271908530/16th-scale-last-of-us-ellie-inspired?ref=shop_home_active_6 That's a link for a shirt and jeans set, but she was willing to sell me the jeans separately for half the cost, so she might sell you just the shirt.
