Oh my.
Yeah, I’ll be getting all the Ninjetti even though production Tommy looks like an absolute imposter. The outfit is still there.
Although, an even bigger downgrade than the sculpt is the loss of the nice fabric bunching on the proto.
It’s like an entire part of the costume is missing- and maybe it actually is a separate piece that just hasn’t been attached…

That’ll be 3 sets of MMPR for my collection; show suits, Ninjetti, and Movie suits- but only display space for one group… whoops.
It was more of a stunt-man reason. They had different stunt performers on the TV show… and some of those “girls” were played by men. The full mask helped hide that fact. Those Ninja versions look good to me…I always wondered if it was a copyright law or something that in the actual tv season when they were in the Ninjetti outfits their faces were completely covered up instead of wearing the masks in the film. I mean every part of the outfit was the same except the masks
Maybe three zero should’ve made one more fully covered Head
When it comes to power rangers, if I can’t see their faces, I just assume it’s not the American actors in the suits. Those Ninja versions look good to me…I always wondered if it was a copyright law or something that in the actual tv season when they were in the Ninjetti outfits their faces were completely covered up instead of wearing the masks in the film. I'm pretty sure I could pull it off in 3D modelling myself, but my printer is FDM, not resin, so not the best for creating small detailed items like this. Otherwise I'd just make it myself.Surely someone around here can design and 3D print those emblems…
On cheap 3rd party figures like these, you can bet the emblems are held on with nothing more than a spec of fabric glue.I wonder how easy or potentially damaging prying out the existing emblem would be.
So, Albino Ninja showed up today.
I was prepared for the cheapest feeling and looking, most unimpressive figure unboxing experience of my life- but was pleasantly surprised.
Naturally, the first thing I was looking out for was that elusive folded neck wrap piece that it looked like we’d been cheated out of getting, and low and behold, it was right there next to the head.

Fab. Each fold is lined with a soft, metal ring to help shape it.
I placed mine over the hood since, if you pull the hood through, there’s just too much unwieldy fabric rising up around his neck.
The suit appears like the type of material that will easily snag on my barbell-worn hands so I busted the mime gloves out for this one.
The sculpt is far from perfect, but it elicits Tommy to me. He’s got that rough, synthetic Barbie hair, which is never great, but allows for decent head articulation and doesn’t look too bad if you catch just a bit of it over his shoulder.
The hands are soft plastic and easy to change. I really like the pearl white paint and his wrist guards even have real string ties.
The leg section of the outfit could do with being a little baggier to really hang over the boots. It’s a little tough just getting the lower leg section to sit all the way in his boots as is.
The Falcon emblem would benefit from a more metallic paint so I may give that a shot.
The body is definitely not the best. Legs are a little loose and arms are very tight. He’s got an appropriately slim build though and there’s no padded bodysuit. Those solid nips will pop through the suit if you tug down on it.
Saba looks pretty cool.
She’s hard plastic and details are fairly crisp. Only problem is aspects of the paint that seem completely wrong like the face and blade portions.
Now that I’ve looked into it, this will need to be remedied.

Also, Tommy comes with only gloved hands, but Kimberley comes with only bare hands. I’d prefer either a mix or that all rangers are uniformly wearing the gloves.
After checking some stills, if my movie scene order recollection is accurate, it appears that the Rangers received their Ninjetti powers fully suited wearing gloves and masks, then immediately remove them after bikini goddess lady turns into an owl and flies away, and never regain the gloves, even after masking up to do battle against the pyramid rock guardians.

Turns out, fans have spotted this before and even asked JDF (Tommy) about it. The reason the gloves never made a come back is quite rudimentary-
"The gloves didn't breathe very well, and made their hands all hot and sweaty."
Anyways, here’s my pose for the time being.
Something about him just photographs so well when you shine a little light on all that pristine white.
