Anyone knows if Fullmetal Customs is still offering his custom made leg brace for Max in 1/6?

I would go and ask them. I got mine put aside as I make payments. Last I heard there are only a few left.

Got my hands on the AF shirt, and also finally bought the han solo boots for $19 to customize them as max's boots I was using the newline boots but anything I can improve on.

Bought Mad Racer jacket and pants. Pretty cheap on Toyanxiety.
I don't care so much about perfect movie accuracy, but I like the idea of having them to switch up the look of the figure.
I like the black leather look of the VTS but the Mad Racer set seems way more broken down, like it looked on screen on Fury Road.

Aren't the AF pants and jacket going to be way too baggy on this figure's body? Or am I overestimating how much bigger the AF figure is.

That's cool man. The store i bought the WR figure from was selling shirt, jacket, and pants for only $21.00. It was sold out though. If the pleather jacket and pants do break, I'll just get another leather jacket and pants that somewhat resembles to the one he had on. I was thinking to myself why cant I just put a random pleather jacket on him that somewhat resembles the jacket that he had on. I mean that's what the real Max would do if he lost his old jacket or pants. He would just put on anything that he found on the way, like a scavenger right?

It will fit nicely. It fits a ttm19 no problem here. Might even look less baggy than the VTS outfit.
I think it's a little funny how the AF figure (suddenly) seems to be appreciated (apart from the obvious things like head and body. (And the shirt and boots are bad in my opinion)) :)

I don't think vts would make a leather outfit that would fall apart after 4 months or less. And if it does you can always get a custom one from geewhizcustoms which is an amazing job but is like HT iron man money.

Well, I like the shoulder pad on the Crazy Racer figure; it looks better than the one on vts figure imo. Plus, the color of the clothes is closer to the color of the clothes seen in the movie. It will also last longer than the vts jacket which is made out of pleather, right? Those are the reasons why I think it's good and not horrible like I thought it was before.

You're probably right. I was thinking maybe it will start to break after like 3 years. I will check out the outfit that you just mentioned. Thanks

It'll last for years and years if you're not rough with it and don't leave it exposed to the sun. The only time I've had an issue with pleather is when I've brought on the problem myself through rough handling. And that goes for figures dating back to at least 1999, which was when I started to get into this scale for the first time post Action Man.

I really wouldn't worry about the pleather breaking down .... that'll only make it look more screen accurate :D

Thanks for the info guys. Wow, it lasts longer than i thought it would.

And pleather is easily painted with acrylics which can extend the life indefinitely plus you can get some really cool color and weathering effects that way. I've got some untreated pleather coats in my collection that are going on 10 plus years with no sign of wear whatsoever.

typically they will last around 3-5 years before signs of deterioration depending on how much rubber they added in the formula & how thin/thick/softness/textures. the more realistic the pleather look like for a 1/6, the more fragile they are, temperature & humidity also.

my Dragon or DID Pleather coat still going strong after many years, but as a trench coat it is it's more rubbery & thick compared to realistic pleather used on AF Dredd which is very thin & delicate.

key is once they are exposed to environment it will start to oxidize. keeping it in box on the other hand poses the risk of pleather fusing with the plastic trays.

i don't know you mean painting it when it's new or repainting it once it's flaking off. i've seen people repainting the fabric layer once the pleather came off but you can't mimic the leather texture it once had. from a distance it will look like a matte vinyl suit but upclose i'm not sure.

anyway my Kenshiro clothing is flaking off and i don't think he appreciate the weathering effects.

also not all pleather can be "repainted". some parts don't have fabric backings so you have to totally redo those parts with leather when they start to disintegrate.

pleather looks really nice, but it's a headache and once you have enough flakes you will start to give up buying things with them.

I still have my AF Dredd, but i don't know, many times i think of selling it off once Epoch Cop arrives simply because of the pleather. The figure itself is great, but thinking about the pleather takes away the fun sort of.

he will put anything he can find on, and goes on to find his jacket & pants back, unless it got destroyed like his car. then he'll settle with something really close.

Enjoy your figures for the love of God....if the pleather goes off and cracks sell as is or throw in the bin easy.
If you get enjoyment and a few years out of these things they owe you nothing...toys aren't meant to be for life.

I used to worry about it...because other people worried about it.

Then as the years passed I discovered there was nothing to worry about. :lol
