Guys im looking at SS's Grievous's neck, shoulder, and chest area... and it seems really inaacurate... the breast plates should be up higher almost touching the neck armor, and his shoulder joint should be a bit higher and a smidge closer to his body...

You said you dyed it too? What did you do exactly? And are any of your new pictures the newly dyed cape?

Questions, questions, so many questions....

Darkened it quite a bit. I textured it and toned down the colour to add scale. Added irregularity (folds and wrinkles with an acrylic dip) and basically ****ed it up a bit. And dirtied up the bottom edges, as if they have been trailing on the ground. It came out pretty well, adds a lot of realism to the character. Next I will water treat it to get it to hang correctly and add specific screen dirt and weathering. Hard to show in these pics as not really futzed yet.

Yeah, it's a great figure but there are a lot of inaccuracies. Thankfully you can fix most of them. He comes apart reasonably easily.

Regarding the red dye, I honestly think that some batches must have been over dyed. Because nothing, absolutely nothing came off mine, I scrubbed and scrubbed, washed in hot water, you name it. Seemed fine.

That looks really awesome, Rory. I follow everything you did, except the first part where you said you darkened it but then the next sentence you said you lightened it up. Not sure which direction to take on this.

Cape looks great Rory. Love the weathered look. Would you mind sharing what you use to weather? Chalk? Also, what do you mean by "acrylic dip?"

I looked back through the thread but couldn't find my answer. On the fused arms, the area with the pistons is extremely loose. The arms won't stay in a raised position whatsoever. Do you think the super glue trick work on this? I can't think of another method that will work.

Thanks and great work as always.

No I said I f@#$ed it up, not lightened it up! :lol

Or did you mean "tone down"? By that I meant, take the new bright look off the fabrics.
I have a hangover today, so I had to re-read my post 5 times to understand, I see letters not words..

I will post a how to over in the mod thread.
Regarding the arms, I have given up on the full arms completely. I hate the piston articulation, I admire what they attempted, but it doesn't work. I'm making the half arms into full arms. The superglue trick works on most things, not sure about those pistons though, could get messy?

:lol

For clarity, is that where you actually take two separate pieces of something, add glue, hold them together tightly for a few moments, and then release to find them stuck together firmly? Amazing. You ARE the Master.

:lol
You are too quick for me today.. But no.. Superglue trick..
When a joint is really loose, drop some superglue into it and rather than let it dry, keep it moving/working until the glue dries. Then its a lot stiffer.

Or you could end up making all your 1/6 figures into little solid statues..

Just got mine today and I cant even bring myself to pose him, I laid him back in his box until I have about 2 hours to dedicate to handling him. Man he feels like handling glass straws. Easily the most fragile figure I've ever owned, and I've owned the Hot Toys endoskeleton!

Just picked him up, has to sit in my car all night while im at work :lol

Really hope I can adjust a few things as im not liking what im seeing...

What can I do to check the cloak before putting it on him

Regarding the fused arms, has anyone tried putting rubber bands around the pistons? When the upper part of the pistons are held together they can hold their position better.

I checked mine and I do indeed have a very faint red stain developing on the corner of the shoulders where the cape is draped. However it's so subtle that I don't really mind it. Ill worry about it later if it gets too pronounced (but even then, it's hidden by the cape).

i wonder it dipping it in water would help? im planning in weathering up his cape anyway.... id rather have stained cape than stained shoulder blades...
