What about removing the plastic sheet entirely? What purpose does it serve besides mis-shaping the vest? Genuinely curious, I'm dying over here, wishing I could work on a solution myself

The vest issue: So the front armor is pegged down through the vest to a plastic sheet on the inside of the vest. I may trim or even remove that piece cause it isn't shaped well to fit his body. It's just kinda straight which is the whole problem. It was a great idea, but it wasn't well executed by the factory. That and the plates aren't pegged on in just the right way. The breast pieces should be closer to the center and lower to the belly piece.

Ok, so decided to take Boba apart and see what was up with the vest/chest and take some pics for you guys. This started off as a simple fact finding venture and kind of snowballed from there...but first things first...

Taking off the vest, as has been mentioned, requires removing the head, hands, and gauntlets...then removing the two screws in the back armor.

There's some nice padding under the helmet that really adds a nice touch of realism:

And the inside of the vest with the plastic sheet. You can see what Silent Surfer was talking about here. It can't really be removed:

As I said - ignore the stomach plate - that was my fault and it didn't come like that.

Wow...what a difference a little stitching/taking in makes! One's attention is drawn through the whole figure now, not stuck on the box-chest...looks great, Dave!

Ok. couple quick pics...fresh outta the box and pretty much unfutzed. All I did was unblouse his pant legs a bit...

....and if it can look this good right out of the box, then hey...not bad at all-pretty good actually!

...but it may be moot for me for a while....still no word from Sideshow, no charge no shipping notice, nothing. Wondering if it's all last year's Con -attendees (who ordered there) and west coast folk who are getting theirs now...has anyone west of the Mississippi gotten a shipping notice on Fett yet? Feeling out in the cold here....

Looks to me like the armor plates are just glued to the plastic sheet. Looks like you could pry the sheet off then glue the armor plates back down onto the vest with some tac glue or something.

Looks to me like the armor plates are just glued to the plastic sheet. Looks like you could pry the sheet off then glue the armor plates back down onto the vest with some tac glue or something.

Why not cut a circular pattern in the plastic around the glued points and put the vest back on?

What about using a very small pair of scissors or an X-acto knife to cut away most of the plastic sheet? Just leave a little around each 'rivet?'

Now here's what I did...

I didn't really have any intention of messing with him, but since I had him taken apart, I figured I would see what I could do with some hot water...

If you choose to try this, proceed at your own risk! I heated up some water in the microwave just shy of boiling, about 3 minutes on high, pretty hot but not boiling. Dipped just the bottom of the vest in for about 20 sec or so and bent the bottom plate to my liking. Here's the thing though, the clear plastic backing acted almost like a shrinky dink and kind of got a little warped as you can see below. Not really a big deal to me, it's hidden and still functional but, once again, proceed at you own risk If the water had been hotter, or I left it in longer, this may have proven disastorous!

Anyway, with some curvature in the ab plate, I decided to put him all back together after letting things cool and dry and this is the result:

Since I had the water out, I went ahead and water treated the Wookiee scalps as well. They are still wet in these pics:

And here he is, all put back together:

So after seeing the deconstructed Fett, couldn't you just unscrew the back plate pull the vest tight and screw the screws through the vest to hold it tighter?

Those green plastic blobs you see are pegs fromt he armor plates on the front, the go through the plastic backing and then are melted flat to hold the plates in place.
